What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Periapsis: Eclipse is a unique game that combines action-packed, approachable space combat with orbital mechanics in the most fun realism-based sci-fi game out there. This is a very novel approach to space combat and I want to continue to improve the game and its world alongside players who have been searching for a game like this, just like me!

Releasing in Early Access will allow me to continue to work on Periapsis: Eclipse and iterate on gameplay based on player feedback, improving the game for everyone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game is planned to be in early access for roughly a year but the full release date will always remain flexible. My philosophy is to take the time to necessary produce the best game possible!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Periapsis: Eclipse is planned to offer more combat depth, new ships, new weapons and new environmental gameplay as well as a deeper connection to the galaxy's narrative and campaign strategy through dynamic events and quests.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“My goal for Early Access to give players the approachable and action-packed orbital mechanics game that we've all dreamed of, as soon as possible and use that time to understand from players how to make it even better.

The current Early Access version is fully playable with a dynamic roguelike campaign and orbital-mechanics combat. This version features laser weapons, tons of unique upgrades, electromagnetic weapons, missile combat, stealth and heat management, fission reactors, magnetic fields and much more.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to offer Periapsis: Eclipse at a lower price point while in Early Access and plan to gradually increase it as the game progresses.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can follow along with development on my Youtube channel and discuss development and gameplay directly in our community Discord. Players who are especially interested in giving feedback will have the opportunity to participate in playtest of new builds.”

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Periapsis: Eclipse focuses on space combat between spacecraft. The game's narrative and mechanics acknowledge that you are killing people in this war but no violence between or on humanoid characters is visually depicted.

The game is set during an interstellar war and features destruction of spacecraft and planetary settlements using conventional and non conventional weapons. Both combatant and civilian casualties are simulated and displayed to the player as numbers in mission recap and may have gameplay repercussions on level rewards and quest completions.

The player may acquire expendable "stim" items that can be ingested by the player's crew to temporarily improve stats. Stim usage is not visually depicted.
