What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are just a team of two and this game is a passion project for us. Releasing it in Early Access will allow us flexibility to finish the project.

Fractala Sandbox is actively being developed, and we also want our players to be able to provide feedback during and be involved in its development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The estimated release year is 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are developing our own physics engine and have focused on its fundamentals up to this point. We have begun adding some material interactions, and for the full version we plan to add a lot more, such as chemical reactions, heat transfer, explosions, freezing, burning, evaporation, fracturing, and alchemy.

Furthermore, we intend to make the user interaction as intuitive as possible. This includes building rigid bodies in a way that allows e.g. vehicle creation, adjusting lengths of rope and other joint properties, using the foreground and background layers to connect objects, the ability to build intricate physical contraptions, machines, artwork, and architectural constructions.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable with most of the fundamental material types in place (water, oil, fire, slime, rigid objects, sand, snow, smoke, lava, jelly, honey, mixable paint, clay, mercury, and more), as well as a global illumination lighting system with light emitters, colored occlusion, volumetric partial occlusion, mirrors, and negative light.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price is currently not expected to change upon the game's release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are excited to grow a community of people who want to discuss the game or share their builds, creations or custom mods with us and the rest of the community, and invite you to join the community Discord server linked on this page.”

About This Game

Explore the elements of Fractala Sandbox and its large-scale physics-based simulation. A pure sandbox experience featuring everything from wavy water and sticky slime to viscous lava, coiling honey, squishy jelly, compressible snow, piling sand, aerodynamics, solids, rope, fire, and explosives!

The sandbox aims to spark player creativity through its highly interconnected simulation, leveraging the graphics card to simulate vast quantities of particles in real-time. Experiment with different materials, discover unforeseen reactions, and use your findings in a larger contraption. Or tinker with items and combine them to make a pretty diorama.

Some order, lots of chaos, and a fractal to be found in between.

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty, use the item editor to create your own specialized items to fit the needs of your current creation. With modding tools, you can add new behaviors and material reactions to the base game.

And don't forget to share your findings and creations with the rest of the community!

All in all, and as is said, this is the way of a fractalier.
