What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to develop *Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel* in close contact with the people playing it. Early Access gives me the opportunity to gather meaningful feedback, refine the experience, and continue expanding the game toward its full release.

The direction of the game is already firmly established: a modern action RPG with classic genre roots, satisfying combat, meaningful progression, and support for both solo play and co-op. Player feedback will help me improve balance, usability, pacing, and existing systems, while also identifying which parts of the experience deserve additional attention.

Throughout Early Access, I will continue adding new acts, classes, enemies, items, quests, environments, and multiplayer features. Feedback will help inform the details, but the overall creative direction and long-term plan for the game are already in place.

By joining during Early Access, you can help make *Under a Desert Sun* a stronger, more polished, and more enjoyable game as it grows toward the complete version.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect *Under a Desert Sun: Seekers of the Cursed Vessel* to remain in Early Access until the four phases shown on the development roadmap are complete.

Early Access will launch with the full first act, two playable classes, solo play, four-player local co-op, and the game’s core combat, loot, skill, quest, and progression systems already in place.

During Early Access, I plan to expand the game one act at a time. Each major phase will introduce a new act, additional playable classes, enemies, items, quests, environments, and improvements to the existing content. Online multiplayer is planned to enter development and testing during the later phases before becoming part of the complete game.

I do not want to promise a fixed full-release date before the remaining acts and features are ready. The roadmap provides a clearer picture of the work ahead, and I will share updates as each phase progresses.

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will launch with the complete first act, two playable classes, solo play, four-player local co-op, and the core combat, loot, skill, quest, and progression systems in place.

The full version is planned to expand this into the complete game, including:

  • All four acts fully playable, completing the main campaign
  • At least five playable classes, each with distinct abilities, progression, and playstyles
  • Online multiplayer, allowing players to join friends beyond local co-op
  • A substantially expanded selection of enemies, bosses, equipment, skills, quests, and environments
  • New content added throughout every act, including additions and improvements to areas released earlier in Early Access
  • Further balancing, usability improvements, polish, and refinements informed by player feedback

The main direction and structure of the full game are already established. Feedback during Early Access will help me refine the details, improve existing systems, and identify where additional content or attention will have the greatest impact.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the start of Early Access, the game will include:

  • The complete first act of the campaign, including its main story, environments, quests, enemies, and bosses
  • Two fully playable classes: the Soldier and the Adventurer, each with their own abilities, progression, equipment, and playstyle
  • Full single-player support using either mouse and keyboard or a gamepad
  • Four-player local co-op using gamepads; mouse and keyboard support is currently limited to single-player
  • The core combat, loot, skill, quest, character progression, difficulty, and save systems
  • A complete gameplay loop built around exploring, fighting enemies, completing quests, developing your character, and finding increasingly powerful equipment

The Early Access release is intended to be a substantial and enjoyable first version of the game, rather than a technical prototype. Development will continue with additional acts, classes, equipment, enemies, quests, features, balancing, and polish throughout Early Access.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will launch in Early Access at a lower price than the planned full-release version.

As substantial new content is added—including additional acts, playable classes, enemies, equipment, quests, and multiplayer features—the Early Access price may increase to reflect the growing scope of the game. Any price changes will be communicated in advance.

The price will increase again when the game leaves Early Access and reaches its complete version.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to involve the community through playtesting, direct feedback, discussions on Discord, and feedback shared through Steam and other channels.

Player feedback will be especially valuable for improving combat feel, balance, controls, usability, difficulty, progression, co-op, and the overall pace of the experience. I want to understand where the game feels satisfying, where it causes frustration, and where systems or content need more clarity, polish, or depth.

I will use that feedback alongside my own testing and development goals to make the game as enjoyable and polished as possible. The creative direction, setting, and core vision for *Under a Desert Sun* are firmly established, but community feedback can help me make better decisions about how that vision is executed.

I will also share development updates and roadmap progress throughout Early Access, so players can follow how the game is growing and see which areas are currently being worked on.

About This Game

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

AI-generated artwork was used during early development, primarily as temporary material while testing and building the game.

Much of this artwork has already been replaced, both in the game and on the Steam page, with original work created by commissioned artists and by me. I will continue replacing remaining assets where bespoke artwork meaningfully improves the game, with a strong focus on ensuring that its characters, environments, key visuals, and overall artistic identity are shaped by original artist-created work.
