Disclaimer

Please note: This is an early build of our game. Bugs may still occur – here are the main known issues:

• Flashlight desynchronization – On some systems, loading problems can cause the flashlight to become unsynchronized with the player camera. In this case, only the flashlight moves while the camera remains fixed.

• Language selection – In the General Settings menu, you can already select the language, but currently only English is available. A German version is in progress.

• Dialogue skipping – In the full game, dialogues can be skipped or ended, but this feature is disabled in the demo because it’s not yet fully implemented.

• Audio, controller, and mouse settings – These settings are not fully functional yet. Bugs may occur when adjusting them, and audio settings may not respond as intended.

• Performance stutters – Some older systems may experience occasional stuttering. We are working hard to optimize performance across as many setups as possible. However, with only two systems available for internal testing, we cannot reproduce every possible issue. Most bugs we encountered were fixed and did not reappear during extensive testing.

About the Project

We are a small 2-person team developing this game alongside our full-time jobs. About a year ago, we received around $8,000 through Kickstarter, which has allowed us to get this far.

This public demo offers a first glimpse into the atmosphere, tone, and core systems of Calvar – The Darkest Gate. It represents an early stage of development – performance issues or in-game bugs may occur.

Known Limitations

• ❌ No enemies are included in this build

• ⚠️ NPCs (e.g., the gravedigger Velmore) are early versions and will be upgraded

• 🔧 Many systems are work-in-progress and not final

• Showcase core mechanics in their early form

• Collect feedback on performance, bugs, and usability
