What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The primary goal of Early Access is to ensure an authentic representation of 'The Troubles' , albeit an abstraction.

This was a complicated conflict and the game would benefit greatly from diverse inputs to help shape the best representation.

The core elements of the game are in place, with multiple processes and systems to now be developed and fleshed out in order to give the most authentic representation of this conflict.

As with previous titles in the COIN series, feedback will be seriously considered and implemented before a final launch”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“3 + Months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have a more comprehensive representation of this conflict as well as a more defined end-game, along with EA user inputs across the entire game.

Any new systems / processes identified in the Early Access will be included.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is playable but is lacking a refined scoring system along along with the victory conditions still needing to be defined.

Refer to the 'About This" section on the Store Page to see the list of features included in the Early Access release”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be more expensive on Full Version Launch”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community has been involved with this project from the start, as evidenced by the other games in this series, particularly the recent release of Angola '86.

Feedback and suggestions are taken very seriously and patches are implemented usually within 24 hours of being reported.”

About This Game

The Troubles were an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted for about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it is sometimes described as an "irregular war" or "low-level war". The conflict began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Although the Troubles mostly took place in Northern Ireland, at times violence spilled over into parts of the Republic of Ireland, England, and mainland Europe.

As the British Armed Forces deployed into Northern Ireland, you will need to win the Hearts and Minds of the local population and balance the aspirations of both the Loyalists and the Nationalists.

Both the IRA and the UVF need to be contained, preventing the insurgency from destabilizing the region.

The Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) need to be deployed effectively and fairly to keep the two factions apart as a political solution is sought.
