What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While AetherShot has a complete gameplay loop and progression, it is not where I would consider it a fully finished game. I have many more ideas and would like feedback from a wider audience than my testers as I implement new features and expand upon existing ones.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to stay in early access for 3 to 12 months depending on player feedback and how long it takes for for the game to get to a "Complete" state.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to use the Early Access period for things like:
  • Improving existing enemy, boss and environmental assets
  • Adding custom music and sound effects
  • Expanding on the Base Camp and the NPCs within
  • Expanding on the existing story
  • Adding new enemies, bosses and floors
  • Adding new spells, elements, vessels and upgrades
  • Rebalancing existing content

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has just released, so it is in its most basic state currently. The first couple weeks will be for gathering feedback on how it currently stands and what should be prioritized first. While it has a complete and fun gameplay loop, it lacks the depth that we hope to achieve between now and the full release.

Currently the game includes:
  • Procedural generated Trials with 3 floors with over 50 possible rooms. Each floor has 1 of 3 bosses each, and many different enemy types.
  • A full crafting and trading system to add progression to the story mode
  • A base camp full of fellow restoration workers who can help you in various ways
  • A Classic mode with no meta progression for a true Roguelike experience
  • 8 spell types, 5 elements, and over 100 upgrades to make custom spells of all kinds
  • 4 Aether Vessel Types with 24 upgrades to enable different strategies for managing Aether needed to cast spells

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not increase between Early Access and Full Release, though sales will be more frequent and at a higher discount than during the Full Release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“After releasing into Early Access, AetherShot's development discord will become open to all users for feedback and communication, as well as answering questions and receiving feedback on other social media channels.”

About This Game

Aethershot is a 2D top-down rogue-lite where you can craft and fire off your own spells! Fast paced combat and dungeon delving are the main focus. Delve deep into the temple's trial grounds to improve yourself and discover why they have suddenly started spewing out monsters! With each floor the enemies get harder but the rewards greater! The main feature is a modular spell crafting system allowing for many different spells and builds, with even more to come. There are currently 6 spell types, 5 elements and over 100 upgrades to make them your own!

The Cataclysm Restoration Team has been hard at work repairing the damage to the Skarred Wilds, but their most recent project has proven to be more tricky than expected! While restoring a temple dedicated to Masrong, the god of redemption, hordes of monsters started spewing out from the trial grounds beneath the main temple. A lone Robun has been sent to protect the team and solve the mysteries of the temple by delving into the trials below!

Runes and materials can be found within the trials, and while the runes crumble upon leaving, the materials can be used to make permanent versions of any rune they've collected to take in for the next delve into the trials. They'll need to take advantage of this to face the deepest levels of the ever-expanding trials...
