About This Game

Embark on a dark, brutal quest in this first-person, party-based dungeon crawler. Choose from 42 classes to form your 6-member team and conquer the Dark Tower in Original Mode. Every decision matters in this medieval world where insanity and death are commonplace. Will you survive, or fall like the adventures of the past?

In tamer mode, you only get one party member. But you will be able to recruit one of the 58 recruitable monsters along your way.

Before the great coming of despair, everything was normal. Then the sun began to blacken, the skies were full of blood, and light became the most traded resource among those who lived. The vile beasts entered the world, kingdoms fell and new villages prospered. Humanity banded together to march to the Gate of the Abyss, sending parties to explore and to kill whatever Dark God created the Abyss.

Those who enter will gain broken bones, infections, and will bleed to death, unless they are prepared.

The Town is a nameless place where those who go into the Abyss rest before they die a painful death. Its short history is randomized when you start, impacting everything in very small ways, so it has a life of its own. It has everything a traveler would need. Stores, a church, a prison, a town hall, and more. Get quests to do things in the town, or help out the people. They give many gifts and new teachings to survive. Go to stores to buy and sell, or to loot and slaughter whoever runs them. Ignore the cries from the prison, or help them with revenge against the shopkeepers and the Church. The stores run on a stock market simulation in the background, impacting if they stay around or not.

You are going to need lots of food, steel, and courage to survive. Make sure to always be prepared, always be sane, and to eat before your food rots.

Outside the town, the beasts may make your party go insane. Maintaining a sanity level of each party member is key to survival. Set up Campfires for everybody to speak their mind, search for goods, and more depending on what they are. If not, then when they go insane they will leave the party as they shout unknown phrases into the night.

How much you can purchase or get loans depends on your credit score with the people, and how much debt you get yourself into. Buy things and you will look better for loans. Loans give money but debt that quickly compounds. If you get into too much debt, a debt collector will come to collect a soul.

Your 6 crew members are fragile, but with time, they may become strong. They begin with something unique to each one.

Kestrel - They are the Leader. The speeches they give can give great passion to the party during battle, or great despair.

Graham - A strong sense of morals, they may be a strong member.

Ceolumnd - They want to seek out the group more than themselves, allowing and begging the beasts to attack them instead of the others.

Chad - A famous person outside the Abyss. This has led them to develop a strong sense of pride.

Deorwine - A sickly person. They have a deadly infection that is slowly eating their insides out. They have medication that makes them very sick, but gives them more time to survive. Anything without side effects is expensive, but maybe the town offers many different ways to remove the infection.

Oswald - Someone who has had a dark past, and had to learn to siphon energy from others at a young age. This is very effective in battle.

Yet, one of them may be a traitor. This is something randomized at the start of the game if someone has a thought of betrayal. Only one may be a betrayer. Be warned, you will never know who it is, unless you have someone see the future, if they do not lie.

There are 42 classes to choose from. Your party composition will impact how easy or hard it is to survive. Be warned, not every class is equal in the eyes of the people.

Knight - A common warrior, those who use the Blade to seek adventure.

Archer - One great with a bow who used to serve as the guard on a great wall.

Mage - Someone who knows magic, but isn't gifted in a single area of it/.

Bard - One through song and dance gives life to the party.

Druid - A man of the Earth who speaks to the earthy beasts.

Monk - A holy man who wants to seek ascendance through prayer.

Pyromancer - A man of limited flame. They can set up camp fires for free, and use fire magic.

Frost Mage - A man of the frost. They can freeze anything.

Stormcaller - A man of the storms. They can call lighting from any sky.

Puppet - A soul trapped in a puppet's body, it is weak, yet it is infused with magic.

Demonologist - A man who has drunk enough blood to transform to speak to demons. They have many gifts, but they all require sacrifice. Christians don't like them.

Scout - A man who knows how to watch for threats, and to find things near a campfire. Use a trusty gun to survive.

Prisoner - A man of Sin. They may steal from the party, but may get bonuses when having low Karma.

Karma Sage - They are men of the one true God. Their strength is based around strong Karma. Pagans dislike them, and they are banned from Pagan Churches.
Merchant - Merchants are men of the coin and of debt. They can accept debt for bonuses, and abuse debt for their own gain. Gamblers may also enter the stock market in the town to buy stock for the stores.

Noble - They gain strength because of how well known they are and are worshiped by the people.

Monkey - Highly aggressive pets trained to fight the beasts. They are known to go Feral and attack friend and foe.

Leper - Very sick, worse at campfires to support everyone, can inflict infections onto enemies.

Villager - Nothing special. The lesser known the party is, the stronger a special attack they have is.

Beggar - Poor, they know how to beg, but not everybody will answer in kind.

Battles are fierce. The Beasts are strong and mighty. They will break your bones, make you bleed, and infect you. Sometimes bigger enemies can be found that will give a challenge that can easily slaughter your party. But they will all eat away at the mind, some giving trauma to those who fight them.

Major battles will have special choice based attacks, where it can reshape the battle depending on a good or bad choice. A bad one may lead to an unrecoverable death.

The Town may have a Pagan or a Christian Church when you arrive, all depending on town's history that is created for it. They have many offerings, mostly after some donations. Some quests and some rewards for those who require any Holy Orbs. But alas, there may be more. The Beasts have their own statues in the main dungeon, with their own gods. Renounce humanity's Gods and give worship, and they may answer when you pray. Or destroy the false Gods. Yet, don't believe you will be allowed back to the Church once you renounce your faith. It is all up to you who you worship and call God. Doing so will not be free from consequences.

All choices made can be good or bad for humanity. You may become a party that serves all, or only themselves. This will impact how you are viewed by people, and what may impact your choices in the end...

With your party formed, it will take lots of blood and sweat to survive and to get to the end. Can you survive? Can you fight the Dark God and overthrow the endless night? Or will you die like the rest?
