Why Early Access?

“ We want to showcase an early version of the game with the goal of involving the community to make it the best it can be. Gathering player feedback and improving The Shadowed Rune based on their input will allow us to make them part of the development process and expand the game according to their suggestions.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our intention is to keep the game in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will include most of the core systems, but with limited content. The initial campaign will feature around 20–30% of the final game content.
The full version, after the Early Access period, will include many more levels, enemies, items, spells, and—most importantly—it will have evolved based on player feedback. It will feature improved systems, many more options, and fun activities to enjoy. The end-game content will also be much broader, and the final version will allow players to experience the complete story and uncover all the game’s secrets in an epic and impactful ending.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“For the Early Access launch, the game contains approximately 20–30% of the planned content. You can play the campaign solo or in co-op up to a certain point in the story. The level editor is also available, allowing you to play custom levels and special challenges outside of the main campaign.
The campaign is highly replayable, as levels are procedurally generated. In addition, there are many secrets to discover and spells to unlock.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“ Yes, the price will increase slightly after the Early Access period. We believe the game will be more complete and therefore offer more value. It's also our way of rewarding players who supported us during Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“During development, in addition to the Steam forum, we will have a dedicated Discord server available for players to share their feedback and suggestions, and to help foster a community around the game.
We’ll also be running contests for level, character, and spell creation, with the chance for winning entries to be implemented directly into the game.”

About This Game

You’ve reached a forgotten tower full of dangers, and there’s no way to escape. Your only chance is to climb to the top of the tower and break the curse using the power of the runic artifacts. Help Maia and other explorers uncover the secrets of the cursed tower!

The Shadowed Rune is a challenging action roguelike that you can play solo or in two-player co-op*. Combine the power of runes to discover new spells and climb the tower to break the curse. You’ll face enemies that aren’t as friendly as they seem, and puzzles where you’ll need to wisely harness the power of the elements. Did I mention the bosses guarding each floor? They’re only the beginning…

*Local co-op multiplayer requires at least one connected controller.

An action roguelike adventure with bullet hell / bullet heaven-style combat, puzzles, hundreds of enemies, and powerful bosses that will push you to the limit.

Local co-op mode. Each new adventure can be played in two-player co-op, even online (via Steam Remote Play Together).

Magic system based on seven elements (water, fire, wind, earth, lightning, light, and darkness) allowing you to create 134,217,728 possible spell combinations, discover more than 30 different elements, and unlock hundreds of handcrafted spells.

You’ll also find a complete Magic Compendium that lets you uncover powerful spells right in the middle of battle. Switch between runes and modify your attacks in real time to adapt your strategy without stopping the action.

A tower divided into seven floors with dozens of levels to explore awaits you, accompanied by your feline companion. And every adventure is different: levels change after each defeat. Are you ready to break the curse? Let’s go on an adventure!

Interact with the environment, solve puzzles, face waves of enemies, and discover unique artifacts and powerful spells that will change the way you play.

You’ll also be able to manage and upgrade your survivor camp, unlocking new challenges, cosmetic items, and learning more about the backstory of other characters.

Level editor so you can create your own challenges and share them with friends, and play them solo or in co-op.
