About This Game

You play as a feudal lord in 14th century Europe, entrusted with managing your land by the King. Starting with just a castle keep, you grow the economy and population of your fiefdom. At the same time, an invading army is roaming and plundering the entire kingdom. You must ensemble your army, build your defences and defend your land. As you satisfy the King's requests, your military power grows and eventually you liberate the entire kingdom.

One campaign takes place on one map with procedurally generated layout. Successful completion of a campaign can take many hours. Every playthrough unlocks special gameplay tweaks, which influence the mechanics of the next playthrough. During one campaign, short-term goals are specific requests from the King and handling of periodically occurring events.

Your society consists of 2 social classes: Peasants and Lower Nobles. Each class has distinct mechanics and contributes different military units.



Your rule is challenged by frequent and important combat encounters. Enjoy a polished RTS unit control system without compromises.
  • Take control of complex armies, down to individual units. Units diligently arrange themselves into formation. You can control the facing of the formation, and choose the appropriate formation kind: Standard, Wide Line or Spread.
  • Revive your RTS muscle memory with standard features: control groups, selection by unit type, camera focus on control group and others.
  • Enjoy an innovative feature - automatic subgroups - which simplifies control of heterogenous armies.
  • Command your units with standard and advanced RTS commands: Attack Move, Determined Move, Focus Attack, Hold Position, Stop, Patrol, Follow. Enqueue commands for groups and individual units.
  • Experiment with 2 innovative commands: Skip Current Command, Split Selection.
  • Interactively pause the game at any moment to consider your tactical options and issue orders.
  • Rebind all the keys to your personal preference, with ability to use modifiers in any binding.

Unit types are based on classic medieval unit archetypes with original tweaks. Conscripted units could be productive members of the settlement, and every lost unit is significant.
  • 10 human unit types, each with unique tradeoffs and specific production requirements.
  • 4 siege unit types.
  • Well-communicated strengths and weaknesses of each unit type.
  • Ability to disband units, and re-enlist them as a different type.



Economic development of the castle and its surrounding areas is the perpetual goal of the game.
  • In-depth and believable production chains, with mechanics rooted in realism.
  • Over 60 different building types with unique mechanics, creating and consuming many different resource types.
  • Households have private production. Produced goods are consumed in that household and sold on the market.
  • Make explicit choices around goods transportation and collections. No shared warehouses inventory.
  • Manage your livestock through an innovative and detailed system. Determine its growth rate and balance it with consumable resources.
  • Manage your agriculture through an innovative system. Crops are seasons-sensitive and fields have automatic crop rotations and fallow phases.
  • Plan your activities throughout the seasons, where each month provides different events and challenges.
  • Set up your high-level strategy without micromanaging workers and without worrying about space scarcity.
  • Balance the needs and abilities of your 2 social classes.

Standard plot sizes or organic layouts? Your choice! Buildings are placed and rotated freely, and some buildings have a customizable plot size. For these buildings, you can choose a standard plot size instead.
