About This Game

In a land torn by endless war and ruled by brutal slavers, you awaken. These forgotten lands are roamed by ancient gods and mythical creatures… Yet, they are ruled by humans, and their rule is as pleasant as toilet sandpaper.

Easy in, easy out, right?

A young adult slacker from Earth, Zero has to navigate a new world full of chaos, brutality, and moral dilemmas. With a knack for inappropriate jokes and questionable hygiene choices, Zero has a plan: save the world, get the girl(s), and go home.

Simple. Especially when you’ve been turned into an immortal. But there’s a catch: each resurrection is paid for in memories, and a time will come when he will not remember the way back… or where he left that damn sandwich.

Comix Zero is a Souls-like action & exploration RPG set on the living pages of a vividly illustrated comic book universe. The game is a tribute to 2000s dark fantasy comics, old-school cult classics like Comix Zone and Streets of Rage, and challenging modern Souls-likes. As Zero, you will explore a beautiful yet brutal open world, crush enemies in epic battles, and uncover more than a few ugly secrets — secrets that sometimes hide just behind the corner of the page…

You are not a hero. You are a survivor. You are nobody. You are Zero.

Key Features:

Play on a Comic Book Page. Treat your eyeballs to a vivid comic book brought to life! Each screen is a multi-page spread: panels, speech bubbles, gutters, caption boxes… Some pretty gruesome stuff happening on the margins, better ignore it... This lettering really is gorgeous, right?

Explore a Non-Linear Open World. Go any way you want, any direction you want. But be warned! It might get painful. And you might get lost. Crazy, right? Comix Zero combines elements of a Metroidvania with a true open world. Think Souls-like — and better get a map.

Fight and Die (A Lot). Sure, new abilities help, but it’s your skill that counts. Comix Zero’s visceral combat rewards precise strategy over button-mashing. You’ll probably try to button-mash your way out of it anyway, so get ready to die. What were you trying to prove anyway?

Build Your Own Zero. Tailor Zero’s abilities and equipment to match your playstyle. Drink consumables from defeated bosses (gross). Craft powerful items (not gross). Talk to NPCs to get quests and rewards (it varies).

This Is True Dark Fantasy. Enter a brutal world where ancient myths collide with humanity’s penchant for war crimes. Each faction has its own motivations and alliances, and you’re caught right in the middle. This is a place where spells are created from human blood painted on human skin (detached from a human). It’s not exactly a vacation spot.

With a Hero Who Thinks It’s a Comedy. Comix Zero’s narrative is filled with nuanced characters, political intrigue, morally gray choices, and real trauma. And then you had to go and make an absolute joke out of it. Are you proud of yourself?
