About This Game

Outdraw the AI in this co-op party game!

outdraw.AI is a thrilling human vs AI face-off for 2-6 players.
Your mission: create drawings that baffle the AI but your friends can (barely) decipher!

How to play

1. Drawer chooses the prompt to draw in secret
In each round, one player chooses a prompt (like "cat") and attempts to create a drawing that's just clear enough for humans but puzzling to the AI.

2. The other humans and the AI make a guess
Once the drawing is complete, all participants, including the AI, attempt to guess the subject. You only get the category information (like “concept” and “animals”) of what the drawer is drawing in secret. Choose carefully – you only get one guess!

3. Humans lose if the AI manages to guess correctly
Humans win the round if at least one of them guesses correctly while the AI fails. However, if the AI guesses correctly, the humans lose that round! Bonus points await if all humans manage to guess correctly! But beware…the AI will also get a bonus point if all humans guessed wrong.

4. Can you and your friends outdraw the AI?
When everyone has drawn the points are tallied and the winning team is announced. This game requires a collaborative effort between the participants to push their creativity and deviate from what the AI has already learned, resulting in unique drawings that no one has ever seen before!

AI as a way to enhance our creativity

By embracing the medium of games, outdraw.AI aims to use AI as a collaborative tool that seeks not to replace human creativity but to enhance it. Through the game, players from around the world can collectively uncover the biases in large AI models by exposing their blind spots in interpreting diverse, culturally specific drawings.

Exhibiting around the world

outdraw.AI was initially developed as part of the art incubation program at Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT] as “Deviation Game” by game designer Tomo Kihara and design/art unit Playfool consisting of Daniel Coppen and Saki Maruyama. Since then, the game has been exhibited globally at events including Ars Electronica (Linz), Now Play This (London) and at Day of the Devs (San Francisco). The game has engaged audiences of all ages and sparking critical discussions around AI and creativity. The exhibition version of outdraw.AI is available via request.
