About This Game

In Madness Afloat, 1–4 players pilot steamships through Lovecraftian waters in 20–30 minute voyages where exploration leads to opportunity, danger and lasting consequences. Sail between distant ports, uncover missions through rumor and discovery, and face nightmarish encounters and multi‑ship naval combat where every voyage leaves scars that follow you home.

Haul volatile cargo through hostile waters. Each crate, be it fragile, cursed, hot/cold or explosive, must be carefully placed within your ship’s grid. Misplace one or take too many hits, and you risk chain reactions, melting sanity or a hold-wide detonation.

Sanity is shared across your crew. As fear mounts, hallucinations distort targeting, vision, and even commands. Push closer to the madness to gain brief moments of clarity and power. Or lose control as shrine bargains, officer trauma, and cursed cargo begin to reshape the voyage.

Each 20–30 minute voyage leaves permanent marks. Ships evolve with new hull modules and systems. Named officers drawn from rival factions gain traits, traumas, and unique abilities. Your standing with these factions determines who will sail with you and who may turn away. Power accumulates. Debt follows. You return stronger, but never untouched.

Face the dread alone or sail with a crew in online co-op. Coordination unlocks powerful synergies, kit combinations, and multi‑ship tactics when confronting the most dangerous anomalies, while every essential role can still be handled solo.
