Why Early Access?

“While Puppetstring is already fully functional, we are still looking for feedback from users, especially actual streamers/video makers regarding real-world use cases. For example, is the provided adjustment settings for the face tracker enough to produce satisfactory results? Are the available keyboard control commands enough to accommodate all your VTuber model toggles? Is there any stability problems, especially during long streaming/recording period?

Every VTuber has their own preferred software and hardware setup, in addition to different focus regarding their content (i.e. art, gaming or programming). We are looking to gain feedback from as much diverse scenarios as possible.”

Approximately how long will this software be in Early Access?

“Around one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We're planning to implement more tracking options in addition to what is currently available in Puppetstring:

  • Gamepad tracking
  • BLE heart rate sensor tracking
  • Connection to smartphone-based face tracking apps
  • MFCC-based mouth tracking using microphone input

“Currently, Puppetstring has already implemented a fully functional model renderer alongside these tracking options:

About This Software

Perform as a 2D VTuber with Inochi2D and Mannequin Character Generator models!

Puppetstring implements webcam face tracking, mouse cursor tracking, keyboard control and other tracking options alongside renderer for your Inochi2D (the open source alternative to Live2D) models.





More to come as we go through early access period to make it on par with other 2D VTuber apps!

You can make your own custom model using our other app, Mannequin Character Generator! Alternatively, start from scratch using your own art by using Inochi Creator, the official Inochi2D rigging app.

  • Please note that Inochi2D is not compatible in any way with Live2D, it uses a different file format altogether.
  • Puppetstring is not part of the official Inochi2D project. If you like the technology itself, consider supporting them by following the links available in Puppetstring's 'About' menu.
