Why Early Access?

“We're a small team, so having a player based community to include in HttT's development journey is invaluable to us!
With Heir to the Throne we have realized our vision of a game idea to be used as a foundation. In what direction the game will be developed after the early access, what features will be added and how they will be prioritized should be worked out with the community.
Do we need a crafting feature, shall we focus on more skills or new biomes - we shall see.
Obviously, tweaking the balancing and finding bugs is also something we need a larger player base for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This is of course based on the game's success and how fast we can implement the feedback from our community. For now we're roughly planning with one more year of development in early access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While features are being developed (and sometimes even abandoned) in Early Access, they are intended to be fully implemented and balanced in the full version. This also applies to the scope, i.e. new biomes, monsters, items, etc.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We have a playable core loop with a working meta game. Three biomes that offer randomized maps, individual monsters and items. The game can be played in both single- and multiplayer (coop). A tutorial is supposed to lend new players a helping hand.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes - to compensate for a title that is might be buggy and not yet fully functional, HttT will be cheaper in Early Access than the full version. As usual, potential players can save money by purchasing the Early Access version and still support the developers from the start.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As mentioned above already, we plan to let the community actively participate in the development process.
We welcome players on our Discord server where we will be in direct communcation, gather feedback, discuss ideas, potentially have community polls and so on.
Other than that there are the Steam group and forum as well as our social media channels.”

About This Game

Heir to the Throne (HttT) is an action role-playing game with borrowings from the hack’n’slay and rogue-lite genres in a top-down perspective. It is being developed for cooperative multiplayer mode, but will also be playable in single player – albeit with an increased difficulty level. Other features include direct controls, no fixed classes, randomized loot, randomized skills, randomized dungeons and more.

Roguelite Single- & Multiplayer

While you can play the game as a solo player, HttT also offers cooperative multiplayer mode. In the joint fight against evil, coordinate the use of your skills wisely to create synergies. Exchange found items to strengthen your party’s fighting power. While death might be inevitable, having teammates offers the rare chance to get revived.

Unique Character Development

With the approach of "you are what you wear," meaning no predefined hero classes, you have total freedom over how you want to equip and play your character. In addition, with our weapon-based random skill system we make sure that the game unfolds differently every time you play.

Various Biomes

Explore various hostile biomes with open landscapes and dungeons. These environments will be randomly generated every time you start a game. The biomes differ in terms of style, appearance and dominant culture - also regarding the enemies.

Direct Controls

We focus on direct controls, implemented for an action-oriented and dynamic gaming experience. Instead of using point-and-click to move your character, we rely on WASD for movement as well as precise aiming with the mouse. Controller support is planned as well.
