Why Early Access?

“We already have a game which we think provides a mind blowing, visually spectacular, limitless realm to explore, with a game mechanic that works well, not just for single players, but especially for groups of players and streamers who will bring their own content and personality to the game. VR players will also get a unique experience from the game that isn't available elsewhere. We want all these players to be able to get hold of the game as soon as possible. However there's even more content we want to add to the game, and we want the feedback early access will allow to get the balance and experience just right for players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to have the game in early access until the end of October 2024, just in time for Halloween. The game is already fully playable and will get regular updates, however depending on feedback from early access users we may delay the official full release if the scope of the game expands or there is a demand for enhancing the engine etc...”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to create around 30-50 levels in the full version, but maybe as many as 100 or more, we intend to keep adding levels as long as there is demand. We also intend to keep adding monsters and other content until we are satisfied there is the right balance for players, feedback will be crucial in achieving that balance.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core engine and game mechanics are all in place, infinite levels, monsters with varying characteristics, multiplayer and VR are all already implemented. Core sounds are in place too. In short the partially fleshed skeleton of the game is already there for people to play. It already far exceeds most or all of the competing Backrooms games, but we want to make sure we fully put flesh on the bones, polish it up and balance it perfectly.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're offering the game at a low price in early access, as although we think the game is already fully playable, there will be a lot of enhancements coming and we want to reward early adopters who can feedback suggestions on anything they want to see, and although we think the game is already quite robust, any bugs that might show up!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're very much looking forward to receiving feedback from the community, and though the core scope and mechanics of the game are likely to remain consistent, we are open to suggestions and certainly the content and balancing will greatly take into account feedback. We will try to engage players directly, and reply to correspondence wherever possible.”

The level of violence is what you'd expect in a maze inhabited by realistic monsters, but there won't be gratuitous or disturbing violence or gore. The environment is bleak and creepy, but violence and gore is not in your face, the atmosphere is the horror beyond the monsters.
