What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Super Going Right Man has been in development for a long time, and the core game has reached a point where I feel it is ready to be played and enjoyed by a wider audience. At the same time, there are still plenty of areas I would like to improve, expand and refine.

Early Access gives me an opportunity to continue developing the game while learning what actual players enjoy most. I am especially interested in feedback on progression, difficulty, procedural generation, balance, leaderboards and the overall "one more run" experience.

The core idea of Super Going Right Man isn't going to change, Right Man will never go left, but player feedback can help determine where continued development will have the biggest impact and how far I expand the game on the road to version 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I do not currently have a fixed date for leaving Early Access.

Super Going Right Man is being developed by a solo developer, and the scope of development during Early Access will be influenced by player feedback and by which areas of the game prove most valuable to expand or improve.

My goal is to leave Early Access when the complete four-season gameplay loop feels polished, stable and ready to stand as version 1.0 rather than targeting an arbitrary date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The primary goal for version 1.0 is a polished and complete journey through Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, with each area offering its own challenges and the overall difficulty continuing to grow as the player travels farther.

During Early Access I plan to continue improving balance, procedural world generation, enemy behavior, progression, leaderboards, presentation and overall polish based in part on player feedback and how people actually play the game.

I also have many ideas for expanding Super Going Right Man beyond its current scope. Which of those ideas make sense for version 1.0 or for future updates will depend on what I learn during Early Access. I would rather let the game and its community help guide those decisions than promise features before I know they will make the game better.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay loop is fully playable. Players can make procedurally generated runs, manage stamina, collect food and coins, purchase permanent upgrades, encounter multiple enemy types and progressively travel through seasonal environments as the game becomes more difficult.

The upgrade and progression systems are functional, along with multiple save files, keyboard and gamepad controls, and score and distance tracking.

The game is actively being polished and balanced, with particular attention being given to biome variety, enemy behavior, procedural generation, difficulty progression and presentation as development continues toward version 1.0.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Super Going Right Man is planned to launch in Early Access at a low price.

The price may increase modestly as substantial new content and features are added, including when the game leaves Early Access. The goal is to keep the game affordable, and any future price changes would reflect the amount of additional content and development added.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I would love to hear from players about what they enjoy, what frustrates them, what breaks, and what they would like to see improved or expanded.

I plan to use the Steam Community forums, Discord, and development updates to collect feedback, bug reports and suggestions, discuss changes, and share what I am working on.

As a solo developer, I have the opportunity to interact directly with the people playing the game, and I am especially interested in seeing how players approach progression, procedural levels, stamina management and leaderboards differently from the way I do after spending years developing and testing the game myself.

Player feedback won't necessarily mean every suggestion becomes a feature, but I absolutely want the community to have a voice in where Super Going Right Man goes during Early Access.”

About This Game

YOU CAN'T GO LEFT. YOU MUST GO RIGHT!

Super Going Right Man is a retro 2D roguelite platformer about going to the right as far as you possibly can.

And then going farther!

Join Right Man through a procedurally generated world that gets more dangerous the farther you travel. Run, jump, climb and dodge your way through enemies and increasingly treacherous terrain while managing Right Man's constantly draining stamina.

Grab food to keep moving, collect coins along the way, and try not to get bounced into a pit by a mushroom, stung to death by a swarm of angry bees, blown off the screen by a heat-seeking bomb, impaled on cactus spikes, beaned in the head by an angry snowman throwing snowballs or... well, you get the idea.

Eventually, you will die.

But that's OK! You've got shopping to do.

DIE. UPGRADE. GO FARTHER.

Every run earns coins that can be spent on permanent upgrades.

Unlock the ability to run faster, jump farther. Increase your stamina. Add extra jumps. Carry emergency rations. Climb walls. Find more food and coins. Then head back out and see how much farther you can make it next time.

Each upgrade opens up new possibilities and allows you to push farther as the randomly generated world becomes increasingly unreasonable in return.

A DIFFERENT RUN EVERY TIME

Every attempt creates a new world filled with different terrain, gaps, enemies, collectibles and opportunities.

Travel through four seasonal areas:

Spring  >  Summer  >  Fall  >  Winter

Each season brings its own scenery, hazards and challenges while the difficulty continues to increase as you progress farther to the right.

Make it through Winter and the seasons begin again. Only this time... harder.

Super Going Right Man is not about the destination, but finding the answer to that eternal, burning question...

Can I go a little bit farther... next time?

GO FARTHER. SCORE HIGHER.

Every run is another chance to push a little farther.

Track your best distances and high scores, then see how you measure up against other players on the online leaderboards.

Learn to stretch your stamina, use the terrain and enemies to your advantage, and push a little farther every run.
