What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access is a smart way for developers to launch a product, such as a video game, that is still in development. This helps us understand what users really like. Early Access can be a great opportunity for both developers and players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our game will likely stay in Early Access until around early 2025. It’s important to note that these timelines may vary. We want to release a finished product that meets our players' expectations, so Early Access may extend a little longer than expected if further refinements and improvements are needed”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of our game to be significantly richer and more refined than what is currently available in Early Access. Upon the final launch, you will have access to additional levels that we are still developing, completing the game's plot with a compelling ending. Furthermore, we intend to introduce achievements, which will add further challenges and objectives, enriching the gaming experience and providing satisfaction and recognition for your performance.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the Early Access version of our game includes the first three fully developed and playable levels. These levels offer a good preview of the game mechanics, design, and story we are developing. We are at a stage where user feedback is particularly valuable to us.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game will not change once Early Access ends.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are currently collecting opinions and suggestions from comments on Steam. We will explore other options later on.”

About This Game

Immerse yourself in the eerily beautiful world of Just a Lullaby, a video game that blends 2D pixel art with a surreal and thought-provoking narrative. Strategic resource management is crucial: every decision you make counts.

The entire gameplay takes place in a single night. Six siblings find themselves alone, facing an attack by alien rats, drawn there by something mysterious, which you'll gradually uncover through cutscenes as the story unfolds.

Each sibling, possessing their own supernatural power, must enhance it in a specific way. Since these are special powers, you’ll find special weapons tied to their needs, memories, and passions:

  • Mel will enhance the viscous mucus from his large nose with tissues;
  • Marcus will enhance the shockwave from his strange arm with a bow ties;
  • Millie will enhance her fiery tears with flowers;
  • Maude will enhance her powerful claws with seashells;
  • Muriel will enhance her explosive teeth with origami;
  • Martin (who will have a distinct and unique space) will enhance his corrosive bandages with scarves.

At the start of each new level, your first quest and the first unusual weapon will be gifted to you by Missy, an unpredictable ghostly girl, whose identity you will eventually uncover.

For all other enhancements, show your skill by exploring the game environment and first hunting down three monsters with green crowns to obtain three bags of coins. These must then be given to the stern Vendor inside the mirrors, as requested.

In this way, you’ll obtain a black key, which will allow you to speak with a generous Falconer, found within ditches and portals you’ll discover in the ground. However, to receive enhancements from the Falconer, you must persist and collect the three keys guarded by another trio of monsters with golden crowns, always located in the same outdoor area.

During your missions, you’ll need to fight and survive using food obtained from killing rats (as they’ve already stolen it) while staying vigilant: collect up to four extra lives thanks to Mac the Kite (the Castle Spirit that protects the family) and avoid the traps (some hidden, some in plain sight) along your path.

After obtaining the three enhancements, you’ll be more than ready to enter the dungeons (one for each level). Here, you’ll need to muster your courage against skeletal rats, which you’ll kill to gather more food. You’ll defeat monsters and solve mini-puzzles to gain the final enhancement and a key, allowing you to activate the portal to exit the dungeon and head straight to the final boss room of the level (each level features a different boss).

Finally, in this last room, after defeating the Boss, you will receive the Mighty Cider. This must be given to Missy (who will appear right there), and in return, she will give you something truly important: the ability to reach your sibling, free them, be absorbed by them (as they are not yet tired), and thus continue the game with a new character.

Besides the rats, all the enemies you encounter in the castle are the result of experiments and dark magic driven by a twisted and manipulative mind within the castle walls, which we invite you to discover. This discovery will also help you unravel another final secret about the family and Missy's true role.

And don't forget to have fun! We’ve created a hundred unique monsters for you, along with a complex and layered story, enriched with subtle references...

With an original soundtrack and a deliberate artistic choice that emphasizes a style meant to be both dark and humorous, Just a Lullaby offers a captivating and unique blend of simplicity and depth, where victory and defeat are equally possible.
The ultimate question remains: how many lives will you need to reach the end and uncover the elusive truth?
