From the complex Piccadilly station to the modern airport terminus, multiple lines combine to serve Greater Manchester commuters aboard Northern Trains traction. Experience a variety of services and intricate station details with Alan Thomson Simulation’s first route in Train Sim World 5.

A railway network with complex history, the lines which service the heart of Manchester date back as far as the 1840s. The mainline through Stockport established as a major trunk route and quickly became overloaded. It was supplemented in the early 1900s with the addition of the Styal Line, an alternative path between Wilmslow and Manchester. In 1993, a spur would be built off this new line to serve Manchester Airport, taking trains directly under the flight path and right next to EGCC’s second air terminal.

In Train Sim World 5: Manchester Airport Commuter, you’ll be busy operating frequent Northern Trains services. Either driving or as a conductor, take the BR Class 323 from Alderley Edge to Manchester via Stockport, or via the triangle junction to the airport. Explore the stunningly detailed route across 2x timetables, and experience the bustling Monday to Saturday schedule, including freight, as well as the alternative Sunday patterns. With timetable layers, speed along the route with the Avanti West Coast Pendolino, and route hop to extend your shift across the quaint Glossop Line (other content available separately).
