Built to be one of the fastest domestic units in the UK, the Class 390 was part of a visionary project to overhaul the vital services that run between London and Glasgow.

Utilising innovative tilting technology, the Class 390 Pendolino revolutionised travel by leaning into corners – maintaining passenger comfort at higher speeds along the twisting bends of the WCML.

Originally delivered in 8-car formation, today’s high demand of travel sees the fleet of 56 units divided into 9 and 11-car sets, each capable of racing passengers along at 450+ passengers at a time.

With 2 decades of service and having accrued over 300 million miles on the clock, Avanti West Coast’s Class 390s have undergone a full refurbishment programme to be fit the for the future.
