Hvad udviklerne har at sige:

Hvorfor tidlig adgang?

Automata Streetcar is a relaxing, casual, and minimalist world that refers to a historic landscape of buildings and transportation - and I want to get the balance just right. I would very much like our Community to participate in its development, from this version into a fully-developed world. Early Access is a tremendous opportunity to engage with our Community to help identify important content and features, establish themes, and shape this art project together.”

Hvor lang tid vil dette spil være i tidlig adgang?

“I anticipate that Automata Streetcar will be in Early Access for a minimum 1 year after release, and the development schedule will be based upon Community feedback and suggestions.”

Hvorledes kommer den fulde version til at være anderledes end produktet i tidlig adgang?

“The historic streetscape portrayed by the art project is based upon available research materials. As more people become aware of the project, visit the museum exhibit, and play the home version, the plan is to incorporate their experiences, knowledge, feedback, and suggestions to improve Automata Streetcar. This may include the addition, removal, or repositioning of buildings and vehicles, or assigning buildings or vehicles to different time eras.

Content and features may be introduced, modified, or removed during Early Access, based upon Community feedback, suggestions, and game-testing. Please note that this is an art project, not a historical recreation, and that the content will always be based upon an artistic interpretation of historic themes.”

Hvad er den nuværende tilstand for versionen med tidlig adgang?

“The game presents a relaxing, casual, and minimalist experience that uses the same artwork and digital-media content as the full museum exhibit. All basic features are in place and accessible - players can operate the streetcar, pickup passengers, ring the bell, and select different camera views.”

Ændrer spillets pris sig under og efter tidlig adgang?

“The price may change as features or content is modified.”

Hvordan har I tænkt jer at involvere fællesskabet i jeres udviklingsproces?

“Our Community is invited to provide feedback and suggestions for improvements via the Automata Streetcar Community Page on Steam. I also plan to collect shared experiences, suggestions, and feedback from exhibit visitors during museum and gallery installation events. Feedback will largely inform how buildings, vehicles, and streetscape are modified to better reflect the eras portrayed in the project.”

Om dette spil

Automata Streetcar is an interactive, digital-media art project that uses historic streetcars as a metaphor to explore ideas about connection, communication, and community. The project is inspired by the four historic streetcar systems that once operated in British Columba - in Victoria, Vancouver, North Vancouver, and in particular the small, remote mountain community of Nelson.

As mechanical devices, streetcars may be interpreted as a type of automata: self-guided, interactive mechanisms that respond to a sequence of predetermined instructions. They follow a fixed track through city streets, stopping to collect passengers at predetermined locations, operating within a sequential yet highly interactive environment.

The project is primarily intended for installation in a museum or gallery setting, featuring a composition of large-scale physical objects with digital projections onto adjacent walls or screens.  Interacting with the physical art objects (as custom-made game controllers) allows exhibit visitors to explore a digital recreation of Nelson's main street as it was 100 years ago when streetcars operated there. Players take on the roles of the conductor and driver to operate a streetcar, collect passengers, and build community confidence. A version of the project can also be downloaded to experience at home using a standard keyboard and mouse arrangement.

Home Play Version

This Early-Access edition of Automata Streetcar is a simplified version of the art project that presents the interactive, digital-media components in a format for personal, non-commercial home-use.  It is not intended for public exhibition or display, or to generate images for public or commercial purposes.
