“The game concept for A Merchant's Promise is centered around finding, buying, and selling goods/items in order to survive and increase your Merchant Status. However they still need expanding upon along with incorporating more cities, game items, transportation types, upgrades, animations, map adjustments and gameplay balancing which are a continuing process. As a Developer my core vision and goals for the game are progressing at what I believe to be a healthy pace, but I also have a responsibility to my customers. By opening up to early access I get the opportunity to see others enjoying the game while also receiving feedback to help further develop and ensure the best gameplay possible for A Merchant's Promise!”

“It is my goal to leave EA Q4 2026”

“There is still much to be added to fully complete the overall atmosphere, scope, and desired detail of gameplay. Some of these things include: Implementing more NPC world actions to immerse the player (player being arrested, fined, pardoned etc), additional Cites and Villages, routes, items, transportation, upgrades, NPCs and their interactions/roles, World Events, and player house options. Along with these things I always strive to improve game performance or at least options to help improve playability for different computer specs.”

“Players begin with practically nothing and can begin traveling to the few cities and villages that exist in effort to find and trade items. This in turn helps build their wealth and status in society to earn their way to a more survivable lifestyle. There are Weather elements, item condition, value, seasonal price variations. Players can choose to sell items direct to other traders, or rent a trade stall to sell to traveling customers for higher profits.”

Adakah harga permainan ini berbeza semasa dan selepas Akses Awal?

“EA Pricing is set to reflect the current state and features of the game and will be updating during Early Access as these features are added to and updated. While a final price has not yet been determined, pricing after Early Access will be increased to reflect the final content and gameplay mechanics.”

Bagaimana anda merancang untuk melibatkan Komuniti dalam proses pembangunan anda?

“This will done both through Steam and Discord. There are clear ways to provide your valued praises, complaints, suggestions, and general feedback. Priority will primarily be given to bugs and performance issues, but with more preference and selective requests and suggestions we can prioritize by feasibility and community desire.”

The Tutorial is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED even if having played the demo (now removed due to age) as there are differences. 

A Merchant's Promise features No Inventory & Physics-based Inspired gameplay. You are in full control of the item you handle from the time you pick them up until you put them down...or throw them.

Your Merchant Status is everything and will determine how easily you can adjust your prices to make the most profit. There is also a Permanent Death option for those that like more risk.

Starting as a lowly Merchant you can eventually earn your way to a King's Merchant through trading as you experience:

  • Item Loss

  • Weather

  • Light survival elements (hunger, thirst, health, and stamina)

A Merchant's Promise will not micro-manage you:

A part of the fun is in the discovery of something new. Whether an area, shop, event, or even something as small as a road sign that helps you find your way!

That is the intention why A Merchant's Promise uses:

  • Limited Menus and UI's as possible...and still trying to be reduced.

  • No "Objectives" or "Tasks" will pop up telling you what to do and how to do it.

  • You must Explore, Talk, Read, and Interact with things to learn about the world you play in!

...did I mention the Main Game Tutorial is strongly encouraged?

Priorities of Continued EA Development:

  • The Game World - I am working hard to bring more elements of "life" and "depth" into the game as current features are also tested by those of you that play the Beta Version.

  • Consistent & Reliable gameplay - Physics games are quirky and a lot of adjustments are always being made

  • Performance - No one wants a 47GB game download that gets 12FPS.

  • Gets the bugs out - I handle these through the Discord Reporting (Link on Store Page or In Game) as soon as possible with a ticket system so you can stay up-to-date on your issue's progress.
