“THIS, is a masterpiece, like, I think I learned some stuff from it and took what was said as real life advice to be honest. The poems were breathtaking. They made me wish for someone who would write to me, at least in letter format, no matter how cringy. I loved the way the characters talked, the vocabulary was superb. During my first play, I finished the main good ending in one setting which took me 14.3 hours approx. (which is a lot, but given it's the first otome I played, it's understandable) and I think I need a little rest before going after the other romantic partner candidates (routes) or unlocking the other stories. Actually the main good ending invoked chaos on my mind, haha, I thought I was done for a second. The story really made me invested and I was so frustrated because I wanted a good ending for my characters. This was so much fun to play. I loved the graphics, music, the magic reference, the believing in something quote, the food, and dessert, especially the scenes between the romantic interests. Seeing Mai talking and interacting with the characters made me feel like she was a real person, like she was an individual person making all the choices, as if she was playing and not me. I felt more like a viewer, and that was fun, but in that viewpoint it was as if I was a reader and not a player. I had moments where I got angry, some where I laughed, got shy, screamed, and even talked to the characters through the screen, I smiled more often than ever since playing Who Murdered My Empress and so, thank you for making this! If there was something I would point out is that, maybe adding more choices for the players to select from or more situations for choices to be chosen would make it more interactive and intriguing, since I felt like there was more dialogue than me actually controlling the flow of the outcome.”

“This review is counted in the overall review score because this user purchased the game directly on Steam or got a free license of a free game Recommended 39.6 hrs on record (29.7 hrs at review time) Posted: August 23, 2024 I started playing this game not expecting much, but I was blown away by the plot of the story and the beautiful representation of 19th century feudal Vietnamese culture through the lovely art. Safe to say I was committed to finish the main story. Played it every week and I finally completed the main story. The game was easy to navigate, lots of save space so I could come back and unlock a different ending easily. Not to mention the writing of this game is really good! I really appreciate that Vi was able to give a lot of details without having to read long paragraphs of text every time. I also really liked the pacing of the game, it doesn't linger too long in a scene and it really gets to the point. I am looking forward to unlocking more scenes in this game :) All in all the game is brilliant, the art is stunning, and I 100% recommend those who love murder mystery and Vietnamese culture to check this game out, You will not be disappointed!”

About This Game

Who Murdered My Empress is a time-travel slow-burn romance visual novel taking place in a fantasy world inspired by the 19th century in Vietnam.

You play as Mai, a strong-willed and analytical police officer from the present day. Injured during a case, you awaken in the year 1845, but not as yourself; you are now the infamously lustful Empress who rules the country.

Armed with the knowledge you learned from history books, you are determined to unearth the truth behind your arrival here and do your best to survive by avoiding mutiny and war.

Here, your life intertwines with Vu Huyen, a beautiful man with a mysterious heart. You must interact with him and your other Consort husbands while keeping your identity a secret. They all seem to harbor their own hidden motives, making your mission that much more challenging.

Why has this happened? Why are you here? And why does your heart beat against all logic?

You need to make the right choices to gain more useful information and avoid your bad endings.
