Nonu narrates the story of a desolate island, hidden from the world, succumbing to a plague of violence. The god Nonu has disappeared. The 4 Factions are in shambles. Resources are scarce, and your enemies have you outnumbered.

You are Nonu's reluctant champion; a street urchin part of a nearly extinct pacifist group. You need to save your people. You have to piece together the mystery of the world's current state. You have to understand each of the 4 eclectic ethnicities.

Perhaps, with each small step, piece by piece, you can heal Nonu and save the world.

Souls-Like With A Twist

Nonu is a game about fighting; fighting for your life. Fighting for your people. Fighting for your entire world. Any action, once undertaken, needs to be followed through. Your enemies are ruthless; they have you outnumbered. However, you have a fighting chance. The god Nonu has blessed you, and given you access to a special power: Heat.

• Heat functions as a generated resource for the player, with stamina being the generator; it typically enables moves with utility, or added damage

• Heat can also flow the other way; it can be converted back to stamina in a tight situation

• Heat is a coveted natural resource on this island; first come first serve

• Enemies have access to their own corrupted version of Heat, which is generated periodically

• Enemies are intelligent; they strategize on the best attack for each situation

Combos Combos COMBOS

Fighting within Nonu requires strategy, and understanding of the perfect move in each situation. Enemies will constantly put you in uncomfortable states, and you must outwit them. To perform these moves, you will need to understand several combos, and the unique utility offered by each ending/finisher in the combo.

• Combat is centered around execution of consecutive keys to execute combo moves, each with a unique purpose

• These purposes can include retreat, damage, and even application of status effects

Classic Progression with a Nuance

There are several ways to progress, and demonstrate your own fighting style. The most straightforward however, in classic souls-like fashion, is using Nunem (Souls) to do so. Unlike traditional souls-like games however, you cannot simply buff your damage. You must indirectly increase your damage output. 

• Take good care of the Nunem (Souls) you collect in battle, and use them to upgrade 4 differing attributes

• Constitution; health and defense, Endurance: stamina and its management, Tenacity: application of status effects, and finally Spirit; heat generation and recovery

• Each of these also offer their own unique passive trees

Progression via Exploration and Machin

The other facet to progression within Nonu is its Machin. These are talismans that are spiritual and technical marvels of a lost age; they draw upon the power of Nonu, but are self sustaining. The art and science behind their creation has been lost. Find them all to fully realize your capabilities.

• Machin can completely alter how the Player functions. and can give your offense many different flavors; from builds centered around heat, to ones that require it to never be used

• Machin can also alter how specific heat abilities function

Hand-Drawn Visuals and Lore-Rich Atmospheric World

Every piece of art within Nonu is hand-drawn; environments, character animation and VFX. We use this painstakingly woven art style to bring the world and it's inhabitants to life. 

• 4 eclectic civilizations dominate the island; The Villagers, The Scavengers, The Monks, and the Volcano Elite, each with their own cultural and religious sentiments
