« Brass Necessity is a game published by Popped Corn Bytes, and here at Popped Corn Bytes, we are not your traditional game publisher. Our games are actually created by the public, community members who are simply passionate about game development. Our goal is not simply to make games, but games we wish we could play.

As community members ourselves, Early Access is a way to double down on our founding principle and involve players further in our game's development. Through Early Access, we strive to create a strong community that helps take games like Brass Necessity into exciting and unexpected directions. We believe the feedback of the players themselves is vital for achieving our goal of making fun games. »

« This game aims to be in Early Access for about four to six months to allow Popped Corn Byte members to make improvements to the player experience based on feedback. »

« In the full version of the game, we plan to provide additional content and improved balancing.

For additional content, our goal is to add new playable characters, more areas of the crypts to explore, and a larger variety of enemies to slay. With balancing, we're hoping to improve the game's difficulty by improving enemy AI and adding more intricate puzzles. Through these goals, we are planning to extend the current number of levels in the game to allow players to dig deeper into Brass Necessity's crypts and experience a wider variety of gameplay. »

« The Early Access version of Brass Necessity features a minimum playable version of the game with the first five levels and the core mechanics of the final game. This current version spans about 10-15 minutes of playtime, features two playable characters, and three different enemies to fight. »

« Brass Necessity will be free to play both before and after the official release. »

« We strive to have an open channel of communication with players and want to connect with them through Steam forums. Players can take part in our game's development by connecting directly with our game's developers to share feedback and ideas.

We plan to use this feedback to determine the direction of puzzles, player controls, and new content, including new locations and additional enemies. We also hope the feedback will inspire new directions to take our existing mechanics, so we can bring the combat to the next level. Lastly, we will use this feedback to build upon the game's foundation by balancing our existing mechanics and combat difficulty. »

À propos de ce jeu

On a planet far from here, and in a completely different time... You're part of a crew of explorers, and you've stumbled upon the ancient ruins of a human civilization. How it got there doesn't really matter. Because, really, it wasn't your choice to be here. And even worse, it's magical, cursed, and pure evil. Hoards of undead swarm you, and they aim to make you one of their own. The only thing between you and death is your laser. And even that doesn't seem to work as well as you'd like.

But even if you're from a different planet or a different time, you still don't want to die, so you best get to figuring it out. If you time it right and use the right ammo, you might just make it out alive.

Mechanics

In Brass Necessity, the control layout is simple. There are only seven inputs, and four of those are WASD for moving. You've also got the ability to sprint, which is handy for dodging the greedy hands of the dead.

But the star of the show is your somewhat trusty and temperamental laser. It has two whole inputs dedicated to it. So it's not hard to work. One key reloads the ammo. The other fires it. Simple! The crystals you use as ammo change the properties of your laser. The only snag is that these crystals seem to be growing from the undead. Use the wrong crystal, and they'll be much harder to kill. Meaning you're more likely to die. Use the right one however, and you're less likely to die. Got the wrong ammo? Tough! You'll have to reload or search for the right one. All your crystals suck? Just reload them all to reset your laser. See, simple! Intuitive! Just don't fire your laser too long... the manufacturers never quite got continuous firing right.
