Introducing AI Roguelite 2D, the world's first fully AI-generated 2D Action RPG!

Input any theme, such as "Star Wars with vampires", and an AI will generate all the lore, items, mobs, crafting recipes, animations, and game mechanics of the universe.

This game blends elements of AI Roguelite with more action-focused 2D gameplay, using a combination of initial world generation and on-the-fly story generation. Some elements such as initial location names are generated during world generation, while others such as the result of interacting with a stone monolith are generated on-demand.

Various options for text and image gen models: Choose from free cloud (works out of the box), paid cloud, or connecting a separately downloaded local model hosted on your computer (the latter requiring 5-15 minutes of setup and a GPU with enough VRAM).

Notice: Unlike AI Roguelite original, AI Roguelite 2D currently requires an internet connection for generating the animations (even if images are generated locally). For a small subset of users, the animation service may be unavailable in your region. To see whether the animation service is available to you, follow the instructions in the pinned thread in Steam discussions (the instructions could not be included directly here, because Steam doesn't allow links on the store page).

Notice: The future of this game is uncertain and continued updates are not guaranteed, though I will do my best to ensure it isn’t broken. Among AI Roguelite, AI Roguelite 2D, and Life of an NPC, I will always prioritize whichever game seems to have the most potential to become great. For example, if tomorrow I get some random burst of inspiration which I feel would take Life of an NPC to the next level, I would redirect all my efforts in that direction. Currently, I am focusing on AI Roguelite (original). That may change in a few months, or it may not. This message was last updated July 2025.
