Trust the Backrooms is an Immersive Survival Rogue-Like game set in the vast extend of the different levels of the Backrooms and other Liminal spaces.
It aims to reproduce the experience one will have when "no-clipping" out of nowhere into these alien, yet oddly familiar environments.

Episodic Adventure

Each Episode of the game follows a protagonist who fell into the Backrooms during a different time period and in different parts of the world, and will thus experience a different "version" of the backrooms and uncover radically different mysteries while trying to escape.

Proceduraly Generated Backroom Levels

Explore the seemingly infinite Backrooms in a proceduraly generated level including several unnerving Liminal spaces.

Survive Against the Entities

Try to stay alive and escape the Backrooms while the physical and mental health of your character drops as they encounter backroom entities who will actively chase you in their own twisted way.

Key Features

  • Survival gameplay : Take care of your character basic need or you willl be too weak and wont be able to escape entites
  • Makeshift camping : Push furniture to block a hallway so you can sleep without fearing surprise visitors
  • Stealth Controls : Hide behind a corner or a furniture, move slowly to not alert anyone or anything. If you can hear them, they can hear you
  • Immersive Gameplay : You can only see what your character can see, so peak behind a corner if you think something is waiting for you in the next room
  • Light RPG elements : Manage your inventory to be able to survive as long as possible and unlock more survival skills as you gain more knowledge and experience in this environments

Generative AI was only used to create image references during the creation of promotionnal artworks :

The main promotional artwork shows a hallway where the pillars and the lights are arranged to form the word : DON'T.
The artist who drew these promotional artworks used generative AI to get reference images on how to integrate text with natural elements of a scene so that the elements of the scene seems to be forming letters.
The final artwork is purely derivative and original and was made by the artist from zero, with the help of the AI generated images as inspiration for placing the letters on the final drawing.
