What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Lords of Nysera will be released in story parts, with the first part (12 chapters) being released initially. Since the game has many features to test for balancing and whatnot, we do not want to release all the chapters at once so that we can ensure that the design and gameplay of each is enjoyable and consistent throughout the entire storyline.

What's more, the game has an entire world with many dungeons and side quests planned outside of the main storyline, but will be added later once the story is complete.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Ideally, for only a year or two after release. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have double the story chapters, with the initial release having 12. The full version will also include all of the Kickstarter content that has been promised (new items, spells and arena fights). We cannot promise all of the kickstarter content, initially since some of it will be late-game additions that would be too powerful for players to have access to in the beginning.

The full release will have two different story outcomes depending on choices made by the player, the Early Access version will have a single outcome.

The full release will also have all Support Conversations available (Support Conversations are small cutscenes between characters that can be unlocked between battle to improve their stats when near eachother). The early access version will only cover Support Levels up to B Level, and will not include romance options since they take place later in the game.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The early access version is in the playtest phase, as we now have all our major needs met to have the game played by our Kickstarter supporters. Namely, controller support, the 12 chapters finished, and almost all the necessary assets needed for said chapters.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, it will be priced slightly higher once it is released to ensure that Kickstarter supporters got the better deal :)”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We already have an established Discord with a dedicated (and curated) Playtesting Channel, a bug-reporting system. Though we do not exactly take advice on world-building and story ideas, we are very much open to suggestions from our supporters on improving the game and making it as accessible as possible to people of all kinds.

However, some of our members are also eager to contribute through Steam, so we will be dedicated a portion of our time building the steam community as well and making regular updates and devlogs as more chapters and parts of the world are added.

We also regularly host our game at conventions to see folks play it in person to make sur we're seeing in person where people have issues learning how to play.”
