About This Content

Explore the World’s first true mountain railway in Train Sim World 4! Work winding trains at altitude through the rocky, forested peaks of the Austrian Alpine terrain. Climb the Semmering Pass before hastening downgrade towards historic Wiener Neustadt. Control iconic ÖBB traction on your Semmeringbahn adventure!

From the spacious cab of the famed ÖBB 1116 “Taurus”, and the sleek ÖBB 4024, become one with the rugged peaks on the World Heritage Semmeringbahn. Constructed 170 years ago, the line between Mürzzuschlag and Gloggnitz was the first standard gauge mountain railway in Europe. Seamlessly blending nature and technology, the line traverses the pass through many hairpin turns, over a dozen tunnels and iconic bridges and viaducts.

By contrast, the Semmeringbahn is but a section of the equally historical Südbahn, which runs with faster lines and less demanding infrastructure. After pivoting through the peaks to Gloggnitz, the line, which itself dates back to 1842, straightens out and makes haste for Wiener Neustadt, the busiest station in Lower Austria.

In Train Sim World 4, race along the 27km stretch of the Südbahn out of Wiener Neustadt, before trading speed for scenic views across the 41km Semmering Pass. At the helm of regional and freight operations, traverse the two-storey viaducts and rocky, forested topography of this twin-track triumph.
