What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will enable me to get player feedback early on in the game development, so I can provide future players with a challenging yet balanced game experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access for approximately 6-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In order to consider the game finished, I want to have seven major milestones (which will have minor releases between them)

Beta 0.1: "Towers and Temples" - adding in mad scientist tower quests and cultist temple quests. Mad scientist towers will mainly be based on logic and puzzles, whereas cultist temples will be based on finding clues and unique items.

Beta 0.2: "Art Update 1" - adding in new art tiling and effects, and maybe even adding back in the original font. Music and sounds will be added.

Beta 0.3: "Virtues and Vices" - adding in a lot of the choices and tradeoffs players can make with respect to short-term benefits of sinful behavior and the long-term benefits of virtuous behavior. Penance quests will also be added which will either piggyback existing town-linked quests or revitalize already-performed quests.

Beta 0.4: "Rogues of Europa" - adding in more complex and varied dialogue for all characters. I will also add in the companion system.

Beta 0.5: "Art Update 2" - adding in the good-looking pixel art (if applicable) and (perhaps) an appearance modding system.

Beta 0.6: "Lore of Europa" - adding in the lore pages, which will serve to flesh out the world. More items will also be added, particularly "monotasker" items with one unknown and random use (such as "sprig of sage leaves") which can be revealed by reading lore pages.

Beta 0.7: "Conclusions" - adding any additional things to the game that are necessary for quality of life, probably a bunch of little aesthetic things, and rounding out the information gained from the playtesting.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version is Beta 0.0, which has a travelable overworld, quests that can be completed, and items that can be found throughout the world or purchased in shops. While many of the basic mechanics are there, it's certainly not a completed game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Prices will increase as I develop the game. At the Beta 0.4 release, the price will increase, and for the final release, the price will increase again.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on having a large amount of content in the game, so I will rely on players to provide feedback in order to tune the content to be appropriately balanced. Player suggestions and feedback will all be considered. As with many other games, the community discussion section will be the primary way player will be able to provide feedback, bug reports, or balance concerns. You can also reach me at roguesofeuropa@protonmail.com.”
