What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer building a procedurally generated FTL-style dungeon crawler, I want to involve the community to help shape and expand the experience. Dread Protocol is already fun and functional, but I see Early Access as a chance to explore new directions and continue developing the experience alongside players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Early Access is planned to continue for as long as needed. Progress speed is difficult to predict as a solo developer, and my goal is to take the time required to deliver the best possible experience, guided by player feedback and community ideas.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to create meaningful expansions and improvements throughout development, adding new encounters, factions, bosses, and weapons, along with additional home base systems and other features that deepen progression and replayability. Future updates are planned to bring fresh content and build on what players enjoy most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“I plan to start Early Access with 13 unique station types: Command, Cargo, City, Greenhouse, Medbay, Robotics, Scavenger, Prison, Gruber, Spec Ops, Varangian, Sector 9, and Athax. Each location offers distinct enemies, challenges, and events to discover. This version lays a strong foundation for Dread Protocol’s world, with plenty of room for expansion, refinement, and community-driven evolution during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect to offer Dread Protocol at a lower price during Early Access as a thank you to the community for participating and sharing feedback. The price may change over time to reflect new content and improvements added throughout development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“You can join the conversation on Discord or in the Steam discussion boards to share feedback, ideas, and experiences. I plan to stay involved in both spaces, listening to suggestions, gathering insights, and discussing potential updates with players. As a solo developer, community feedback will continue to influence how Dread Protocol grows and evolves throughout Early Access.”
