What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer building a procedurally generated FTL-style dungeon crawler, I want to involve the community to help refine the experience. Feedback on balance, run length, and even story ideas will make Dread Protocol stronger than I could achieve alone.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan is for Early Access to last less than a year, depending on feedback and development progress. The game already has a strong foundation and a large amount of branching narrative content. Early Access is focused on refining the experience, polishing systems, and expanding content with community input. Updates will be released regularly as major milestones are reached.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game enters Early Access as a complete and fully playable roguelite experience featuring procedural environments, branching narrative events, intense combat, and a wide variety of enemies, weapons, and upgrades, along with a deep skill tree to unlock.

The full version is planned to expand on this foundation with more encounters, factions, bosses, and weapons, as well as additional home base systems. It will also include further balance improvements, new quality-of-life features, and overall polish shaped by player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All core systems are implemented, and the game is fully playable from start to finish. It features procedural environments, narrative events, combat, and squad mechanics, offering a deep, replayable experience with a large amount of handcrafted content. Expect some bugs, balance issues, and missing polish, which is exactly why Early Access feedback is so valuable.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price is planned to be lower during Early Access and may increase once the game reaches full release to reflect the added content and polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I’ll be active in the Steam discussions and on Discord, sharing updates, running surveys, and gathering feedback. As a solo developer, I read almost everything and want to shape Dread Protocol closely with the community.”
