What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Hey everyone, it's MFA GAMES here! We wanted to shed some light on why we're going with the Early Access route for 'The Skyland Chronicles' on Steam.

Connecting with you all: A big reason we're doing Early Access? We want a tighter bond with our community. Seriously, your feedback and ideas mean the world to us. We want you guys to feel like you're right in this with us and that we're really listening.

Making it right for you: Look, we get it. Everyone's different. Everyone's expecting something unique from a game. This way, we can tweak 'The Skyland Chronicles' to make sure it's hitting the mark for as many of you as possible.

Backing us when it counts: Making a game? It's a huge deal. Your support during Early Access? It's gonna let us keep the lights on and make sure the game lines up with what we first dreamed of.

Keeping things clear: We're all about being open with you. We want you to know where we're at, what's coming up, and that we're in this together. We think that's a win-win.

Big thanks for sticking with us. We're stoked for what's ahead for 'The Skyland Chronicles', and we can't wait to show you what we're cooking up!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning for the Early Access phase to last roughly from December 2024 to the summer of the following year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The planned full version of the game will be much richer in content than the Early Access version. We aim to bring you the first part of a story based on a book, which depicts the life of our main character, the pirate Franco, in our world. In the full version, we trace his adventures before his rebirth in the fantastical world of The Skyland, where he must fulfill his destiny. The Early Access version will give you a glimpse into the initial stages of this epic tale, while the full release will immerse you deeply into this extraordinary story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, after completing the pre-alpha stage, we have moved on to the alpha phase, where we are focusing on precisely refining various segments of our project during the early access phase, aiming to achieve the highest quality possible. Key mechanics such as movement, climbing, and quest systems are already completed. We are actively working on improving the combat mechanics, and the animations are in the final stages of preparation. Our map, along with the characters, is nearly ready for early access release, and simultaneously, we are implementing the game's storyline. Throughout this process, we are conducting initial internal tests, paying great attention to every detail to ensure the best experience for our players.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game's price will change after the Early Access stage. If you choose to purchase 'The Skyland Chronicles' during the Early Access phase, you'll pay only 40% of the entire game's value. Once the game reaches its full version, those who supported us during Early Access will only need to pay an additional 10% of the game's final price. By choosing to support us during Early Access, you'll save a total of 50% compared to the final price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“From the very beginning of 'The Skyland Chronicles' development, we've prioritized close contact with our community. Through social media and our Discord server, we're constantly communicating with you all. This allows us to listen to your opinions, suggestions, and feedback regarding the game. Your insights are invaluable to us and help shape the final form of the product. We also plan to host special Q&A sessions, beta tests, and other events to let you engage even more in the creation of 'The Skyland Chronicles'. We believe that it's crucial to create games with the player in mind, and that's why your voice is so important to us.”

About This Game

It seems that you're here to discover the first third-person, pirate-themed Roguelike.

Although you're just an orphan, your role on this ship is far more important than you think – you're fighting for the lives of those you love. As a pirate from the Old Harlot, you must stop the rebellion. To do so, you'll need to become the most skilled thief and ruthless warrior. You'll learn the story of every crew member to influence their final decision, making each ending unique.

With each run, sea-worthy adventures await you!

Become the terror of the seas, striking enemies from the shadows or in open combat. Uncover secrets like a pirate king sailing the Grand Line and engage in epic battles in search of a legendary treasure. You'll write your own legend, one that mermaids will sing about across the oceans!

Have you ever played a roguelike where your growth is built around the pirate crew?

In a living hub, taking care of your crew and their stats determines access to shops and character upgrades. Their mood will decide whether you set off on your next expedition well-prepared, which means this isn’t a game for everyone – you’ll need to approach not only your resources strategically but also manage your entire crew to gain an edge on each run.

High Replay Value on Treacherous Waters

Every time you step aboard, you uncover new secrets. Together with your friend, you work to unravel the mystery of the impending rebellion, with limited time to figure out who in the crew is on your side. Each run presents a new, unknown story full of unexpected twists that change the course of events – failure comes with consequences you’ll feel in your pocket, because for a pirate, gold is the key to success!

Reasons You Don’t Want To Miss It:

  • The first story-driven 3D third-person roguelike.

  • The first roguelike with graphics as good as those in story-driven titles.

  • The first roguelike with stealth mechanics.

  • The first pirate-themed roguelike.

  • High replay value with an epic adventure.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

In 'The Skyland Chronicles', mature content primarily manifests through intense battle scenes with no shortage of graphic details. Occasionally, there are also scenes with a hint of undress, showcasing a bit more of the human body.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS *: 64-bit Windows 7, 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
* Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions.
