Miksi Early Access?

Piroot is a passion project I’ve been developing solo since 2018. My focus has been on building strong core gameplay and crafting a polished first chapter, which offers about 2 hours of exploration and discovery. With this key portion complete, I’m excited to share it with a broader audience, gather feedback, and continue shaping the game with the community’s help.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

I plan to keep Piroot in Early Access for several years, releasing one new chapter per year. Each chapter will add roughly 1–2 hours of gameplay, expanding the world and story until the game is complete.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

The full version will include additional chapters, abilities, puzzles and narrative arcs that build on the foundation laid in the first chapter. The entire map will eventually become explorable by the end of the game.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

The current version includes the complete first chapter, representing about 20% of the full game. It’s a polished experience with a full gameplay loop, designed to stand on its own while hinting at what’s to come.

Muuttuuko pelin hinta Early Access -vaiheen jälkeen?

Yes. The price will gradually increase as new chapters and features are added. Early supporters will receive all future updates and content at no additional cost.

Miten yhteisö otetaan mukaan kehitysprosessiin?

Community feedback is essential, especially as a solo developer. I’ll be listening closely to player input to refine the game and shape future chapters. The game engine is open source and I also plan to release a level editor so players can create and share their own content and help inspire the development of the game itself.

After surviving a crash landing, you awake stranded and lacking abilities or memory. However, a mysterious voice named Root calls out, offering helpful guidance. But be warned, this strange planet is full of killer robots and dangerous obstacles.

Initially limited to rolling based movement, you will soon acquire new abilities and weapons allowing access to more areas, eventually uncovering the world’s many secrets.

The engaging story is delivered as a continuous experience without any pauses or overwhelming players with excessive reading.

Retro inspired pixel art is elevated with dynamic lights and shadows to create a unique visual style. Procedural algorithms give an organic feel to the environment.

As a solo developer's passion project, Piroot is not just a game, it's a labor of love. The custom engine is also open source and includes a level editor, so players can create and share their own stories.
