What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Deep Space Directive is the work of a single developer and feedback is incredibly important. Some of the best ideas in past OWS games have come directly from the community during Early Access. The community can play a significant role in generating new ideas for units, upgrades, enemy behavior, economic balancing and so much more. I think Early Access is great way to get the community involved early and often.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Work is ongoing to implement and polish all of the planned features in Deep Space Directive, but that takes time. DSD will stay in Early Access until all the planned features have been added and all major bugs have been resolved. This is expected to take roughly 12 months once the intial Early Access build is released.

This is the 3rd Early Access title for OWS. Both of the previous games were in Early Access for less than 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of DSD may have some parts of the tech tree unfinished or locked until those features are developed and balanced with the feedback from players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Deep Space Directive is currently playable in but has known bugs and needs some balancing. The lower tiers of the tech tree are currently accessible. Higher tiers will be unlocked as content is added and the game is balanced for new features.

Each play-through is procedurally generated with similar but unique maps. The available player units and buildings are limited to the core functionality and will be added to as the development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game may increase as features are completed and released or when the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“DSD has a dedicated discord server to provide opportunities to interact in real-time as well as see the latest developments of Deep Space Directive. YouTube live streams of the development will provide even more access to community feedback as well as see the process and structure of DSD.”

About This Game

Deep Space Directive is a base-building and resource management game about expanding, exploring, building, upgrading, and of course, defending. Your directive is to generate corporate profit by expanding and exploiting the resources in the world around you.

all means take the weekend! I'm a big believer in letting ideas percolate. zBuild supply chains of mines and power sources to feed your hungry smelters, factories and refineries. The corporation demands profits and rising stock prices!

A constant stream of fuel cells and raw resources are needed to keep your defenses functioning and your colonists fed. Collect, refine, and process resources. Fuel cells and ore are needed for buildings and colonists need water and food. As your population grows you can support more and more buildings.

You were sent to build mines and factories, but when you landed you discovered it wasn't that easy. How will you defend your base? Powerful stationary towers or mobile but weaker units? Keep your energy supplies topped up before night falls or risk destruction.

The enemies are more that just a drain on your resources. The Terrene resource dropped by the enemies can be used to help expand outward to find new resources.
