Why Early Access?

“The core gameplay of Pickaxe Friends may seem simple, but there's a lot packed into the basic design.
We wanted the game to offer real depth in character building and meta progression.
The game includes combat elements that allow us to achieve this depth, including character traits, items, monsters, and stats.
With so many moving parts, we need constant feedback from more players to deliver the best possible game experience.
This is only possible in an Early Access environment.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I think it will be around 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the final version, the goal is to increase replayability, especially by increasing the number of player characters, stages, quests, and items.
It will also include unique customization mechanics for specific characters and items.
We want to provide longer meta progression, improve balance based on playtesting and player feedback, and improve the overall experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core mechanics and general structure of the game are almost complete.
The playable stages have 1-3 monsters each.
There are currently 4 player characters, 5 role classes and survival items implemented.
Players can already complete quests and progress to the end of the story.T.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After Early Access the price may increase depending on the content that has been added to the final version”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be taking feedback and suggestions from the community via Steam and social media.”
