About This Software

Turn a sketch into a sprite set

Sprite Forge combines a pixel-art editor with procedural generators. Start with your drawing, choose a palette and settings, and generate variations or complete asset sets. Keep the useful results, then refine them pixel by pixel as layers and animation frames.

From idea to game assets

Draw a silhouette or open a starting preset.

Choose a generator, palette, and settings. Reuse a seed to reproduce a result.

Generate variations or a set, then save the picks you want to keep.

Edit the result with the drawing tools, layers, and timeline.

Export PNGs, GIFs, sprite sheets, tilesets, or an atlas for your engine.

Generators for common game art

Characters: Build people, animals, and monsters from parts. Create directional and animated sets from presets or your own starting shape.

Effects and materials: Generate fire, magic, combat effects, and material looks such as wood, stone, metal, and glass. Apply them to your drawing.

Furniture: Create beds, chairs, tables, sofas, cabinets, doors, and shelves in top-down or side-view styles.

UI components: Make buttons, panels, sliders, toggles, and other components with four visual states and 9-slice support.

• Tiles and procedural shapes: Create seamless repeating textures or generate noise-based shapes, on their own or over your drawing.

Edit and animate in the same app

Use drawing and selection tools, palettes, layers, groups, masks, frames, and named animations. Preview motion with onion skinning, keep symmetry while drawing, and save generator results with their settings in your library.

Export to your workflow

PNG, sprite sheets, tilesets, animated GIF, and CSS box-shadow.

Atlas and JSON export for Unity, Godot, and Phaser.

Import and export .aseprite files with layers, frames, and tags.

Turn an image into pixel art

Convert a soft-edged or pseudo-pixel image into crisp pixel art. Sprite Forge detects the source grid, aligns the blocks, and reduces the palette locally. Save the result as a PNG, add it as a frame, or create a document from it.
