An odd, openish-world life sim where you must learn how to make money—just so you can afford to learn how to play golf. A truly unique golf experience. Also: permadeath.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access makes the most sense for An Other Golf Game at this time. Simply because not all the planned features are in the game yet. I am deeply passionate about developing this game and dedicated to gathering player feedback to continuously improve it. My commitment extends not just to completing the game but also to supporting and enhancing it well into the future.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The goal date for full release is December 2026, but I want to make sure all planned features are there and working well before considering it complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During the Early Access phase, I plan to add the remaining features detailed on the store page, address any bugs that come to light, and balance some of the games features. The major features not yet included in Early Access is the golf Tournament, and Caddy job. There are also more NPCs, Vehicles, and Jobs that will be added during this stage of the games development. You can also look at the feature list on the store page for this information.

After the full release, I will remain dedicated to maintaining the core game. Additionally, I have several features that, while beyond the original scope, I am eager to implement through regular updates, continually enriching the game experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is quite playable in its current state. The life sim part is very complete. You can play a full round of golf end to end. Drive around and explore the entire world. Interact with some people. Buy food, golf items. Do different jobs. Etc. ~70% of the features are in the game. There will surely be some gamebreaking or frustrating unexpected gameplay. Check out the description page for more details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will be lower when it's in Early Access. Whenever it moves out of the Early Access space, expect the price to be 10-50% higher. The goal is to provide a completely unique golf game experience for a smaller cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am very happy and eager to take feedback and suggestions and especially any bug reports. Please consider joining the discord to report any issues. I will actively monitoring that.

Much of the gameplay and roadmap are defined, but I will always consider ideas that are in line with the end vision.”

About This Game

An Other Golf Game is an open-ish world sandbox life sim with survival, permadeath, and, golf. You’ll have to figure out how to make money, navigate the world, and survive long enough to hit the course. There are no tutorials, and no hand-holding. When you die, you start over.

What to Expect

Expect to get lost when trying to find the golf course, then getting lost again when you try to go home.
Expect to be confused about how to take clubs out of your bag once you put them in.
Expect to be frustrated that you can't hit a ball when you are not looking at it.
Expect to treat some aspects of the game as a puzzle.
Expect to not know where the save locations are.

Expect to be bad at golf unless you make an effort to learn the mechanics and try to improve, there is a driving range after all.

Expect to figure out how to find and complete odd jobs just to afford more clubs so you can eventually build a full set.

Expect to shank it and subsequently wasting time looking for your ball in the tall grass.

Expect stupid high medical bills, welcome to the US.

Expect having to figure out how far you hit the ball and doing some basic math to determine which club is the right choice for the current situation.

Expect the usual early access quirks—weird Unity physics, janky moments, and frustrating deaths.
Expect a unique, extremely challenging golf experience that takes a long time to master.

♥ Transparency Section

This is a passion project created by a solo developer who has worked various jobs at golf courses, from washing carts to caddying and everything in between. If you're interested in a life sim golf game that attempts to truly captures the frustrating essence of golf, this one might be for you.

I encourage you to join the discord or post in the Steam forums if you have any questions or want some help. Like golf, this game is purposefully not easy and attempts to align more to what the real golf experience is truly like. If you have questions, reach out, I am happy to push you in the right direction.
