What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ANDARA: RISE FOR REBELLION is an academic non-for-profit portfolio project, developed to demonstrate the skills of its team, and the hard work that is being done through its development. The game is at the moment in an Early Acces state due to it being an ongoing project made by students as their final year's project, but it is in a very playable state with good production values already.
The goals of the team include:
  • See our project to completion this calendar year.
  • Gather feedback from the community through social media, Steam discussion forums and live events like DreamHack Valencia 2023, where the game is going to be playable in public for the first time.
  • Implement the community feedback into the development of the coming playable levels, puzzles, enemy types, effects and bosses, as well as the existing ones.
  • Add additional lore entries to unveil the secrets of the past.
  • Write a conclusion to Andara's story.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to complete the development during this calendar year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We expect the final game to have all the features of the early access version plus
a more balanced and polished experience as well as extra content.

We expect to complete ANDARA by implementing more playable levels featuring new puzzles, enemy types, new effects and new bosses giving conclusion to Andara's story.

In general terms, we expect an additional hour of playable content to be featured
in the final version.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in an Alpha and early access state at the moment. However, the gameplay mechanics have been implemented to an advanced stage and the character designs and mechanics that are already present in the game
are considered final. There is room for improvement based on feedback. Now where the 'early' keyword really matters is in quantity of content
and player progression as well as polishing of systems such as UI and visual feedback.
In the current version you can:
  • Travel through rock deserts, grand canyons, mines and military outposts.
  • Finish Andara’s first trial - destroying the third shield generator.
  • Fight against eight different types of enemies.
  • Master the thrilling arcade combat using Andara ́s weapons and abilities.
  • Solve puzzles and platforming challenges in each zone.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“ANDARA is a portfolio based project, to demonstrate the quality of our team, and the hard ongoing work that we have been doing for the last 9 months of development, so it will be free for its Official Release too.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through Twitter and Steam community forums we will collect the feedback that players would share, and so fix them before it’s Official Release.”

About This Game

Get immersed in a short but intense single-player campaign in this frenetic third-person shooter taking inspiration from arcade titles such as Returnal and DOOM.

Rise for Rebellion

Hailstone’s invasion, the plundering of its natural resources, and the killing of its natives has been the last straw for Andara. The cruelty of her father has reached an all-time high, alongside his command capacity, and Andara is the only one who can stop him this time around. It is time for the heiress of the Ethadian Empire to rise and fight against Ordon’s army, to reclaim what’s just. Fear, pain and death are prices worth-paying, if only to stop her tyrannical father once and for all.

Loaded and Cyber-implanted

The hyper-advanced technology that has helped the oppressors crush the people of Hailstone might just also be their downfall. As Andara, make use of your incredible powers and movement capabilities to breeze into combat, cast powerful blasts of energy, finish enemies and even slow down time.

Special Forces

Nobody said it was going to be easy. Each enemy will have their own behavior, strengths and weaknesses. Special soldiers like the Charger or the Deadeye will pose a formidable challenge, so fight them all as you’re supposed to - constantly moving, aiming for their weak spots and making full use of both your weapons and your whole repertoire of skills.

Extended Synopsis

Ethadians are running out of natural resources. Their home planet will soon stop supporting their hyper-technological way of life. ‘If Ethadians wish to live, they are forced to conquer’, says supreme commander Ordon to his people. In his mind is Hailstone, a nearby planet where the mining resources are plentiful and the natives are a much less advanced society. ‘They won’t stand a chance’, Ordon anticipates.

He is right, of course.

Ethadians conquer Hailstone in a breeze. They subdue the natives, killing those who dare to resist and capturing the rest of them. Ordon and his troops set outposts and advanced mining stations all over the rocky planet. They build the huge Central Tower and set up the servers that control their cyber-implants inside it. Ordon’s thirst for expansion won’t end here – Hailstone will only be the first of many planets to be vanquished by the Ethadians.

Or is it?

Ordon finds opposition where he least expected it. How could Andara, her own daughter, rebel against him? It was a mistake to bring her with him, thinking that their broken relationship could be mended. Andara has escaped her designated outpost on Hailstone. Aided by G1TH, her companion AI, she is now close to destroying the last generator that shields the Central Tower. She is trained, cyber-implanted and – most importantly – ready to do almost anything to stop her father’s iniquitous plans.
