About This Game

HAYAKU! is a fast-paced retro-inspired metroidvania set on an island that has been cut off from the outside world.

The game pays homage to classic titles from the 8-bit era.

Explore abandoned laboratories, overgrown cities, crystal mines, military strongholds, ancient forests and the last surviving human settlements. Download map data from forgotten terminals, reconnect transport stations and return to previously inaccessible places as you acquire new movement and combat abilities.
Dash through hazards, cling to walls, bounce from enemies, cross electrical networks and uncover shortcuts, hidden rooms and optional challenges.

Master a dynamic arsenal

Fight with three primary weapons, each built around a completely different playstyle:

  • Crimson Star: A versatile energy blade for fast, directional combat.

  • BeastBreaker: A heavy weapon capable of powerful strikes, launched attacks and devastating impact.

  • TurboDrill: A mechanical chain weapon used to attack, grapple and control space.

Weapons can reach three combat levels, gaining stronger attacks and changing their behavior as they grow. Maintaining that power is part of surviving the island.

A secondary weapon wheel provides even more options. Throw bouncing bombs, rapid daggers and more!. These weapons consume crystals and can interact with your main attacks, enemies and the environment in unexpected ways.

Pilot and customize Power Armor

Board a combat-ready Power Armor with its own movement, health and weapon systems.

Mix cores, arms and legs from four distinct armor families to create your preferred machine. Equip shields, energy cannons, drills, chains, axes and rapid-fire weapons, then combine them with different mobility options such as gliding, hovering, aquatic movement and specialized dashes.

Every combination changes how the armor moves, fights and survives.

Help the island's survivors

The island is still inhabited. Meet travelers, engineers, scavengers, strange machines and communities struggling to endure outside Reikan's control.

Accept favors, follow leads and keep track of your discoveries through the Notes & Favors journal. Optional quests, forgotten recordings, photographs and pieces of Dr. Geno's research reveal stories that the island's rulers would rather keep buried.

Face dangerous enemies and cinematic bosses

Battle malfunctioning defense robots, Reikan soldiers and mutated creatures known as Tenebris.

Each region introduces its own enemies, environmental hazards and traversal challenges. Large-scale boss encounters combine demanding combat with elaborate pixel-art animation, dramatic camera work and powerful visual effects.

Uncover the truth behind Hayaki

Hayaki awakens inside the Forgotten Lab with no memory of who he is or how he got there. His only companion is Secsy, a sarcastic security AI contained inside a cat-shaped robotic mask.

A fragmented memory gives him a name: Yusuke, a soldier Hayaki believes to be his missing brother.

Their search leads across an island ruled by Reikan, an organization that promises protection while controlling its people, resources and history. As Hayaki learns more about the Tenebris and his own impossible abilities, the difference between monster, human and machine begins to disappear.

How deeply you confront the island's past will shape its future.
