About This Game

ETRE is a 3D third-person Metroidvania set inside Orbis, a planet-scale alien mind on the brink of awakening. Explore a vast, interconnected labyrinth of luminous architecture, solve spatial puzzles, and engage in fluid ground and aerial combat as you search for your lost love and decide what this new intelligence will become.

You play as Xyle, drawn across the stars by a signal from Orbis. Atel, your bonded other, has vanished inside, and a post-human society called the Etre has grown within the World Mind’s body, split between two factions who each want to use Orbis for their own ends.

Your defining power is the Mind Tether, which lets you shift from third-person into a first-person “drone” perspective through MU, a sentient mind unit. Fly away from your body within the limits of your current tether, slip through gaps, find hidden switches and locks, manipulate machines, and even fight and scan at the cost of taking extra damage.

Across distinct biomes inspired by the visionary sci‑fi of 70s–80s European graphic novels, you’ll uncover a network of living machines called Angel Tech and the rogue Living Geometry spawned by their corruption. Over a journey with multiple endings, your choices and discoveries shape whether Orbis stabilizes as a new world, becomes a transcendent god-mind, or awakens into something far more terrifying.
