Why Early Access?

“Stack Island was originally released in Early Access so I could improve the game based on player feedback while continuing to develop its content and systems.
Development was paused for an extended period, but I have now resumed work on the game and am preparing it for the full 1.0 release.
As a solo developer, Early Access feedback has been especially valuable in identifying areas that need improvement, particularly the UI, progression, balance, and overall gameplay experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Stack Island is currently being prepared for its full 1.0 release. Development has resumed after an extended pause, and the game is now undergoing a major overhaul in preparation for leaving Early Access.
The full release is planned once the redesigned version has completed development and testing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is being substantially redesigned compared with the current Early Access build.
Planned improvements include completely redesigned visuals, an improved UI and card interaction system, reworked exploration and progression, balance improvements, and refinements to the crafting and survival systems.
The core goal remains the same: explore the island, discover and combine cards, craft what you need, overcome obstacles, and ultimately find a way to escape.
We also plan to improve the overall flow of discovery and make clues, notes, and blueprints more useful in helping players uncover possible solutions without simply giving away the answers.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The currently available Early Access build is the original version of Stack Island and does not yet include the major changes being developed for the upcoming full release.
A redesigned version of the game is currently in development with new visuals, an improved UI, and reworked gameplay systems.
A new demo based on this redesigned version is also being prepared so players can experience the direction of the upcoming full release before it launches.
The current Early Access build remains playable, but players should be aware that it differs significantly from the version currently in development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may change as development progresses and as Stack Island approaches its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is especially valuable during the current redevelopment of Stack Island.
Feedback on the new demo, card interactions, UI, balance, progression, and overall gameplay experience will help identify issues and areas that can be improved before the full release.
I read feedback through the Steam Community and other community channels. As a solo developer, I may not be able to implement every suggestion, but I carefully consider feedback when deciding what to improve.”

Explore the island, discover resources and strange locations, combine cards, craft useful tools, and figure out how to overcome the obstacles standing between you and freedom.

Survival isn't the final goal.

Your goal is to escape.

But how you get there is up to you.

Explore the Island

Every location holds something that might help you.

Search beaches, forests, caves, abandoned structures, and other mysterious places to discover new resources, tools, clues, and locations.

Some discoveries may seem useless at first.

Later, they might be exactly what you need.

Combine, Experiment, Craft

A branch. A stone. A discarded container.

What can you make with what you have?

Stack Island is built around experimenting with the cards you discover.

Combine resources and tools to create useful items, overcome obstacles, and open new possibilities.

Some combinations are straightforward. Others require you to experiment and think creatively.

Not every solution is handed to you as a recipe.

Survive Long Enough to Escape

The island won't wait while you figure things out.

Manage your health, stamina, condition, and contamination while dealing with hunger, unsafe water, changing environments, dangerous wildlife, and the night.

Gather food. Find clean water. Build what you need to protect yourself.

But remember:

Survival is a means to an end.

Every day you survive gives you another chance to find a way off the island.

There is no convenient rescue waiting for you.

You'll need to investigate the island, uncover clues, find the right materials, and create what you need to escape.

Different discoveries can lead you toward different solutions.
