DarkSwarm

Miksi Early Access?

We are releasing as Early Access because we have a strong interest in receiving as much feedback from our community as possible. We have both a closed alpha and open beta phase online on the calendar before we release as Early Access. All of this is to collect as much feedback from users as possible before the final release

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

We expect to be in Early Access for about 3-6 months. This should be enough time to both collect data and make corrections based on user feedback. We have not planned any new features during this period.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

We plan to enter Early Access with all the features of the final version. The feedback we want from users focuses more on balancing, bugs and/or possible minor changes.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

We expect to launch in Early Access in 2024/2025. Right now, we have a functioning game, but we would like to include more mission types and conduct more user tests before diving into Early Access.

Muuttuuko pelin hinta Early Access -vaiheen jälkeen?

We plan to enter Early Access at a price that is significantly lower than the final price. At the moment, we plan to increase the price when we exit Early Access, but this has not been finally decided.

Miten yhteisö otetaan mukaan kehitysprosessiin?

We are interested in as much feedback as possible from the users. We currently have a small, but very active Discord community, and we plan to utilize the Steam Community more and more as we approach Early Access.

A dark, futuristic world transforms you and your friends into a team of synthetically engineered elite mercenaries, dispatched on a series of perilous missions into the darkest corners of space to battle a horrific alien infection, the DarkSwarm. The team is led to strange, sprawling exoplanets, swarming with hordes of alien filth, to defend the outposts of humanity from certain doom in an absolute war for survival.

With class-based gameplay, you and your team will utilize both weapons and cunning to complete the mission, make a daring escape with the loot, and save whatever — and whoever — needs to be rescued.

Some of the things you will be able to experience:

4 distinct player classes
Cunning gameplay like stealth, hacking and tactical play
Procedural map generation - never play the same level twice

DarkSwarm is built by hand, by talented individuals — but we may have used generative AI, among other tools, to visualize ideas during the concept phase, helping us deliver the best possible game experience.

In that sense, it has supported the creation of certain environmental assets, images, and props. It's one of many tools in our creative toolbox and is always used alongside handcrafted work.

Contains blood and gore. The game features killing large amounts of alien creatures that will spray the floor with copious amounts of blood and dismembered body parts. (Because that's the way we like it)

Photosensitivity warning: Special vision modes and lighting in the game could use a strobe like effect that can trigger seizures. Use at your own risk.

Profanity: The final game might contain strong language. But currently not.
