What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have decided to release our game in Early Access to involve our fans and community in the development process. By doing so, we can gather valuable feedback, make improvements, and ensure that the final release meets the expectations and desires of our players. Early Access allows us to have an open and transparent dialogue with our fans and establish a strong foundation for the game's development.

Intervallic is the first game we’re developing as a studio. Thus, we have much that we will need to improve on as developers. Through Early Access, we can set overall expectations, share our plans, and start a conversation with our community. We value the voice of our gamers, and we believe that this collaborative approach will result in a better final release and a game that truly resonates with our players. We appreciate the support and input from our fans, and we want them to be a part of this exciting journey.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are committed to continuously improving and expanding the game during the Early Access phase. While we don't have a specific target date range in mind, we aim to gather feedback, iterate on features, and refine gameplay until we are confident that the game is ready for a full release. We will keep our community updated on our progress and any changes to the timeline.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will culminate our efforts during the Early Access phase. We plan to add new features, refine existing mechanics, and incorporate feedback from our community. We aim to create a rich and immersive gaming experience surpassing the Early Access version.

Some additional features in the pipeline include the ability for players to sync up ANY instrument to play Intervallic and the option for players to upload and play their own music.

We want to lean heavily into user-generated content. Thus, we aim to implement a feature that will enable players to upload their own midi files. Intervallic will be able to take the player's midi file and auto-generate a level for the player to experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current state, Intervallic can be played using a MIDI keyboard or computer keyboard. Players will have access to two game modes. They can progress through seven campaign levels and unlock song packs that feature several genres of music. We consider the Early Access version of Intervallic an evolving and dynamic product. We will continue to release updates to address bugs and to refine gameplay based on player feedback. Look forward to the addition of more amazing songs to be played courtesy of our in-house musicians!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During the Early Access phase, we will offer the game at a discounted price to reflect the in-progress nature of the game. However, please note that the final pricing for the full release has not been determined yet. We will consider the feedback and suggestions from our Early Access players when deciding on the pricing strategy for the final version. We aim to provide value to our Early Access community and reward their trust and involvement in the development process.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We strongly believe in the power of community-driven development. We will actively engage with our players through various channels, including forums, social media, and our official website. We will regularly communicate updates, gather feedback, and address concerns. We encourage our community to share their ideas, suggestions, and bug reports, which are crucial in shaping the game's direction. Together, we can create an incredible gaming experience that reflects the desires and expectations of our passionate fanbase.”

About This Game

Intervallic is a rhythm game where you use a MIDI electronic instrument or computer keyboard to control a flying space cat around the planet of Audius! Intervallic makes practicing your instrument more fun and engaging!

Our mission is to motivate music learners to pick up their instrument every day

In this 2D side scroller, each note that you play moves the cat up and down on the screen based on the musical intervals that you play (Intervallic!). Objects are arranged so that by the end of each level as you collect notes and dodge obstacles you have played a full song. Collect notes in each phrase to unlock each record and collect all of the records to beat the level.

Features of Intervallic

  • A "normal" mode where you must play the song exactly: played on the computer's home row or
  • A "rhythm" mode that puts your timing skills to the test: played with arrow keys and spacebar
  • Midi input from your electronic keyboard, guitar or any electronic midi instrument
  • Several tutorials on the game's mechanics
  • 5 song packs including both original music and remixes of classic songs
  • A 7-level campaign mode

This is an early release of the full game in order to gather user feedback for development. Please feel free to reach out to us on our Discord or support email with issues or to share feedback. We are a group of college students passionate about games, music, and education!

Our full release plans to include the following in-development features:

  • A level editor and sharing platform
  • Additional "biomes" which focus on varying styles of music
  • More robust feedback and tips for improvement
  • Support for more instruments
  • An original soundtrack
  • Additional story and character development
