Captain, can you hear me? I know that you must be a bit nervous, but don’t be, everything’s going to be fine… Just focus on my voice, please! Good! Do you know who I am? You might have some brain fog going on, so don’t worry; I can help you remember! Just open your eyes. Ready?

With the ship’s trusty AI, OMEGA – (but you can call me MEG if you’d like!) in control, there is no reason to worry, for I will take care of everything while you nap in your cosy cryo-chamber, waiting for the day your mission will truly begin.

Spaceships like ours have relied on AI for quite a long time at this point; after all: the margin for error is... minimal.

Your one task is, well, to make sure that you drop off our precious cargo, 1000 colonisers with dreams as big as yours and a hunger for a better, more fulfilling life. There’s no way that any of this could go wrong, right?

Now, theoretically speaking, of course, even if something were to happen, for example, if the ship were damaged by an asteroid, we would be able to take care of it easily. I would, of course, require your help, for I have no thumbs, but trust me… You’d be done with repairs in a few hours!

Do you truly have to think about who you are? First-in-command and Captain of the Oberon, you are one handsome devil. After all, the initial brain fog only lasts for a few hours… Here, I’ll give you a few shots of extra adrenaline, and you’ll remember everything in great detail... Perhaps even things you’ve forgotten a long ago…

AMELIA
Amelia, your sweetheart and pilot. She’s worked in the field for quite a while – and trust me, there is no one more skilled at minor repairs than her! This spunky girl is the perfect partner for someone as laid-back as you –perhaps that is why the pair of you work so well together! Of course, she will need some time to adjust to being awake once the time comes… But she will be will be back to normal rather quickly.

MEG
That’s me! Well, my full name is OMEGA, of course, the AI companion of the Oberon. I am fully dedicated to reaching our destination at any cost, and of course, always there for a quick chat if you need me! Even if you just want to know some trivia: I have the answer to any and all questions you could ask me.
And what’s best? With my empathy module set to 80 – I am able to replicate the actions of humans like you!
