Wozu Early Access?

„Purple Eye is a one-man project still in development and in need of honest feedback. Only half an hour of gameplay is fully playable at the moment, many imperfections are visible, and no music or voice lines are included yet - for all these reason, it would be unreasonable to not publish this game in early access.“

„No official date for the end of the early access shall be announced for the moment, but it is estimated to be done in August 2024.“

Wie soll sich die Vollversion von der Early Access-Version unterscheiden?

„While the game follows a linear story which outline and core concepts I intend to stick to, I remain open to any suggestion or criticism the players may have, which may lead to changes in the final product.
In any case, the first version is only 30 minutes long and new levels will be added periodically, until we get to the final product. As such, an evolution will be observable and the more the early access version progresses the more it will ressemble the final product.
Other extra content and modes, such as an arcade mode similar to Resident Evil's Mercenaries, may be added in the final product, but this is not the focus of the early access, which will be centered around the main story until it is complete.“

Was ist der derzeitige Stand der Early Access-Version?

„Currently, the game is evidently unpolished, far from finished with only 3 levels, unoptimized, and only has VFX and ambience for sound. Several gameplay mechanics like stealth, combat and enemy AI are still under work and currently not present in the game. I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to spend time on it, but in any case this first version remains playable and does have the core features of Tank Controls, traversal and interaction implemented, and gives a foretaste of the story's tone.“

„At the moment the game is totally free for an undetermined period of time, and a tipping option will be added. I hope to be able to keep things this way even after the game is fully released, but nonetheless reserve myself the right to give it a price in the future.“

Der Entwickler beschreibt die Inhalte wie folgt:

The current version of the game contains a "Foreword" section which showcases the following mature content : suicide, euthanasia, abortion, beheading, blood and gore, torture, fear, nudity and female genitals, sex, drug use, Nazi speech and imagery. This is in order to tick several checkboxes in Steam's mature content form so that an updated version of this demo may be allowed to include new content of this kind - this description will then be updated to reflect these changes.

The rest of the game only contains partial nudity without genitals, and limited graphic violence - apart from one examinable cadaver, blood effects are small and not realistic.

Purple-eyed and red-haired, carefree and amnesiac, Ethel Montgomery has got to be the least discrete spy in the world. Yet her unique supernatural vision powers made her the agent of choice for the Federal Bureau of Time, which assigned her its most crucial and perilous mission : unmasking the mole inside her team about to sell her entire timeline to an alternate Japanese Empire even more tyrannical than the one we have known.

  • Modernized tank controls ! Don't know what that is ? It's the control scheme used by old survival horror games like Resident Evil, which do not take into account the camera's orientation but rather the player character's own. It still takes some time to get used to it if you haven't played that kind of game, but once you do you'll be able to enjoy a combination of old-school exploration and cinematographic action sequences !

  • Explore a variety of environments through time and space, from today's Texan cities to the battle of Sekigahara or Kowloon Walled city.

  • An unabashedly political and pro free speech story - from religion to abortion and war crimes, no subject is controversial enough to break Ethel's cool !

  • Long Tarantino-like dialogues with a few Telltale-like moral dilemmas.

  • A dense, linear and carefully paced adventure that respects your personal time, planned to be 10 hours long top, with no needless fillers.
