Why Early Access?

“A game like Ooglians is best developed through iterations, with no strongly set plan what the game will end up becoming. We strongly believe the community is interested and wants to help shape Ooglians into the best game it can be.
We wanted to get the game out there as soon as possible to get that feedback, improve the game, fix bugs/exploits and overall share in the joy of Ooglians! That hasn't changed.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We said a minimum of 3 months, but no longer than 1 year. The game has been in Early Access since December 2022, so that estimate was wrong. We're not giving a new date. Ooglians leaves Early Access when the roadmap is done, and what goes into the roadmap is still based on feedback and reception of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We want to add a lot of stuff to the game, and stuff will be added along the road as we work.
The next big updates, in this order:

• Factories & Resources - ooglians drop Ooglimass, factories turn it into power and things like batteries and bombs. (It was in the game from September 2023 until the rollback.)
  
• Belts & automation
  
• Meta progression & research - research and unlock new buildings and parts from the main menu

Other stuff that is planned (no particular order):

• More Ooglian archetypes.
  
• More buildings.
  
• Achievements.
  
• Bosses.
  
• Leaderboards.
  
• Cosmetics - but for the Ooglians, not your ugly towers!

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is at Alpha 0.0.65. Our two core features - base-building with a lot of cables and defending against the ooglian invasion - are in!
It's not bare bones anymore: tooltips on anything you hover, hints for your first run, reward crates that say what's in them, an aim line on turrets, an Auto Aim switch (off by default), trash and rewards squares on the floor, moving whole towers, and a lot of performance work for late rounds.
Still rough: late rounds with a huge base get heavy, and all the new text (tooltips, hints, crate labels) is English only for now.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We think the price should roughly match the current state of the game, so the idea is that the price will increase over time. Expect the initial pricing to be about 50% of the full version!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The main channels for feedback are the Discord (https://discord.gg/hSUrFX3KJt) and the Steam discussions. That's where we talk with you about what goes in next.
