Why Early Access?

“Star Rising is attempting to blend key qualities of turn-based combat, real-time combat, dungeon crawling, and deck building. This unique blend has, to our knowledge, not yet been attempted and is likely to require iteration to get right.

Launching in an Early Access format allows us to collect vital player feedback during the development cycle. This feedback helps us to shape the final experience and maximize Star Risings potential.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The primary changes planned include: improved random room generation, improved dungeon generation, and improved sound design.

Additionally, we plan to make changes to combat and deck building in order to make the experience more satisfying to the average player.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a playable state with a basic implementation of our mechanics. You can move about the world, collect cards, and combat enemies. The visual style is in its final form but requires improved random generation logic to meet our visual targets.

The game is not yet fun, but has potential to be unique and requires development time to meet our internal quality standards.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to change the price of the product after Early Access. If you are uncertain about the project we recommend that you wait for full release to make your purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to maintain channels of communication about the development of our game here on Steam. This allows us to interact directly with our supporters.

The goal is to publish a Weekly Digest of sorts outlining the progress made during the week. There may be weeks with short / no updates around major holidays.”

About This Game

Star Rising is a dungeon crawling, spatial-deck building, node traversing, mashup.

You play as a nameless figure, adorned with an irremovable mask and an inescapable fate. The world around you has fallen to Ruin countless times over. You’ve stood aside powerless to stop it; ready to be swallowed by dusk and the darkness it brings. This time is different - this time the light will shine.

This game aims to deliver a dungeon crawler with an emphasis on deck building. We offer the following to the player:

  • 1. Unique 2D deck building.  Collected cards are placed in a 2D grid by the player.

  • 2. Node-graph traversal and combat

  • 3. Interesting setting

  • 4. Unique art style
