„I feel that Early Access is the best way to get feedback leading up to the final release version of the game. While most of Journey Express' game mechanics are fundamentally built out, there are still things I would like to improve upon and, of course, make more fun!”

„Currently, Journey Express has its essential game mechanics in 2D (traveling mode) and 3D (exploration mode) present and functioning! You're able to create a character with your selection of traits and characteristics, if you will. You can select from a randomized list of parties to bring to their destinations, and then travel across a large map in any way that you choose. As you travel, explore the area around you in 3D, with each biome having its own respective 3D map to roam. You can hunt, fish, and search for points of interest that can later be sold for money and reputation!

In terms of how much of everything there is, this is the current tally of various game components that are in the game so far:

- 14 character traits that impact game mechanics in unique ways
- 18 random events that can occur during travel, each with unique effects and ways to deal with them
- 11 total character backstories and skillsets that determine your character traits
- 5 unique biomes to travel through in 2D, with 5 unique 3D accompanying exploration areas
- 15 total exploration points of interest to find
- 9 map locations
- 6 map discoveries”

Journey Express is a hybrid 2D/3D adventure game that challenges you to get a party of travelers from their current home to a new life elsewhere. The road is fraught with dangers, and you must carefully manage food, medicine, and money so that you and your party survives.

EXPLORE


While traveling a world handmade in pixel art, explore it freely in 1st-person! Acquire food and other items by hunting, fishing, and searching for valuables.

Dynamic time of day, weather, and seasons change how fast you're able to progress, affect your party's morale, and influence the events you encounter.

PROGRESSION


Your family's name isn't what it used to be. Generations of scoundrels and swindlers have left it tarnished, but each of your completed journeys will contribute to your wealth and reputation.

If your character succumbs to injury or illness, you will create a new one as a successor to continue where they left off.

MAP & DISCOVERIES


Freely decide what direction you go at any time while you manage your food and supplies to safely get where you want to go. Navigate grasslands, mountains, deserts, and more!

Find unique locations and discoveries scattered across the land for additional money and reputation.
