Why Early Access?

“With Protocol Aftertime we attempt to create a new kind of gaming experience, harmonizing gameplay and story elements with the playable character's personal growth. To reach our aspired goals, we need the help of the players. Only through your support and feedback can we send Jericho on a journey worth experiencing. 
It matters not whether you wish to call it an old-school platformer with added features or a multifaceted story-driven adventure, what does matter is, that you can leave your own little imprint on this new interpretation of a classic genre.
Although the genre may initially seem unusual for an Early Access title, this allows us to focus on developing new and interesting gameplay, mechanics, and abilities, without losing sight of a clean and error-free experience suited to the players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We believe in quality over quantity. As such, we take your feedback quite seriously. To implement it, as well as to develop the other worlds, will require at least another year. New worlds will be made available during future updates, once they’re finished, allowing you to experience and evaluate them in their full splendor. Our goal is to release Version 1.0 after 2 years of development at the latest.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“With each update we get closer to Version 1.0 - that’s self-evident, but what exactly does it entail?

• 3 more worlds
  
• New skill chambers and thus new passive abilities
  
• More story sequences, including a playable story finale
  
• Full English dubbing of all dialogue and story sequences
  
• More language options (subtitles) - feel free to reach out to us in Discord or by mail if you’d like to support us
  
• New/more music
  
• Improvements to character movement, new and more fluid animations
  
• More to explore, discover and collect
  
• Controller support
  
• Achievements
  
• Revised and improved user interface
  
• And most importantly: Implement what we have gathered from your feedback.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“What is the current state of the game, given it is Early Access?

With the start of Early Access, you can travel through two finished game worlds. Both gameplay and dialogues are completed (though we are open to adjustments, based on your experiences and feedback). 

• Each world will include:
  
• Several large and unique platforming challenges
  
• One primary puzzle
  
• A grand finale
  
• 3 story sequences
  
• Several small optional riddles
  
• Humour & drama

Upcoming worlds will also deliver similar content.
Current playtime is around 3-5 hours per world, depending on how you wish to play and explore. This gives Early Access around 10 hours of gameplay with varied kinds of content.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version will be cheaper but still grant full access to the finished end product - it’s the least we can do in return for your trust and support.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We wish to be transparent and honest with our player base. Therefore, we should make clear to you: Not every suggestion will necessarily make it into the game. Ultimately, we must create a complete package for a wide audience. But that doesn't mean we don't take all feedback seriously. On the contrary. Most of the time, input from different sources creates a bundled idea that is more worthwhile to incorporate. So, keep the feedback coming.
