“The game is in great shape to start racing! While adding everything I want to include is still months of work, a good core of features and content is finished and the game is a lot of fun to play right now. Community feedback will help me in shaping the game to it's fullest potential.”

“The early access period will likely be 9 to 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The key items on the roadmap are career mode, audio update, performance optimization, Steam Workshop support and a steady stream of new tracks. Lots of other QoL-improvements and features like damage are also in the plans.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core of the game has been well playtested and is in a good state. Here are the main features for early access:
  • single player with quick race and championship modes
  • spectator mode for watching AI racing
  • online multiplayer with custom room settings
  • time trial with online leaderboards for all-time records and weekly challenges
  • 12 tracks across 7 locations
  • pit stops: tyre compounds with different speeds and durability
  • dynamic weather: plan ahead and react during the race, track wetness changes based on weather and effects tyre grip
  • modding support for single player: driver names, textures and AI skills plus car stats and textures are moddable and there's a classic formula model option for visuals

About This Game

Formula TOP brings all the excitement of formula racing to a 3D top-down racing game. Choose your team, plan the perfect pit strategy around changing weather conditions and race to victory.

Feel the traction

Formula cars are the greatest racing cars in the world with amazing speed, downforce and grip. The game's driving model is built to emphasize this so you really feel you are racing a formula car and not just any car with a formula skin slapped on.

Time Trial will have you chasing the perfect lap for hours as hitting that apex just right really makes a difference. Slipstream overtakes and intense side-by-side battles create a great race experience.

Pit strategy

Optimize risk in your tire strategy on different tracks and temperatures to maximize grip throughout the race. Push to gain positions with your fresh soft tires or try to hold your ground long enough with hard tires to take advantage of the extra durability.

Dynamic weather

Dynamic weather adds a whole other dimension to strategy. Do you start with wet tires on clear weather to get ready for the coming rain or leave those who do in the dust with soft tires? Or maybe you will do a longer stint with intermediate tires since the rain is light and won't last long. Whatever your plan, always be ready to adjust during the race. Reacting to the strategies of others and taking risks can make underdogs into winners.
